Ouch at God's Not Dead. He has risen but the franchise is done.

Not awful but not great for RP1. It will need good legs and big international numbers ($350m+) to break even.

Looks like China is coming to the rescue of Ready Player One

Haha what? Sorry that your expectations were blown way out of proportion, but $40m 3-day is excellent for it. It has no stars and it is 140 minute sci-fi VR movie ... that's a hard sell.

50m+ over 4 days will be quite good. It's harder than ever for an original film to make any traction these days so good effort.

Pretty good for Ready Player One considering its international potential

Pacific Rim Uprising is an utter failure. It will make less than the first in China as well

does PRU end with a hook for another sequel? That would be pretty unfortunate

Black Panther is down only 7.9% from last week, and its average actually increased... I wonder just how well it will do over the weekend. It's not a religious movie, but does appeal to a largely religious demographic.

I was hoping for a bigger bump on Good Friday. So the movie performed above its massively deflated expectations, but still won't be a huge hit.

Ready Player One's Friday was up 84% from its true Thursday ($8.25m). Quite good for a new release. I also guess it has strong appeal to families.

Ready Player One is an odd film in regard to family appeal. I wonder how parents who bring smaller children will react to, say,
Spoiler: show
the re-creation of the old-crone-in-the-bathtub scene in The Shining (albeit with Austin Powers-style obscured nudity)
.

That's decent for RP1 but as expected it won't break out.

Pure Flix needs to regroup. They are in disarray right now. GND3 should have opened around $5m on Easter Weekend.

There's better options for that audience right now. It's a shitty opening but the franchise is played out.

Even without options I just feel GND3 would not have done well. The last one already saw a major decline which said the audience have moved on.

Holy shit at Unsane's drop this weekend. :( Is it a typo on Box Office Mojo? 96 percent?!

Yeah but it probably could have opened to 5 Million over this weekend if it were the sole option for this audience.

But I think anywhere else other than this weekend it would have possibly done the same OW. Even if they have opened it earlier I don't think the movie had enough pull to take away buzz from ICOI.

We broke one record this weekend...

Biggest Second Weekend Drops:

1 Unsane $3,762,145 -96.2% $144,171 1,929 $6,826,486 3/23/18

Beating Collide's record from last year at -88.5%. Unsane didn't just sneak past, they destroyed the previous record. Maybe this is just a typo though otherwise its unprecedented to see a drop like this...
