That's solid for both. Holmes audiences scores are so bad though it's legs might be quite short.

Given the size of it's daily gross, that's a really impressive bump for Aquaman. Last time Christmas fell on Tuesday was 2012, and the only top 10 films to beat that increase were the two comedies This Is 40 and The Guilt Trip, grossing less than 5M each.

Poppins should be at 80m by the weekend and be over 100m by the end of the weekend. 125m by the end of New Year’s Day!

If Aquaman ends up doing 300m, Poppins does 175m+ and Bumblebee beats Last Knight then I'd say that's a good result for all.

Really solid numbers for Aquaman, and that is a pretty nice rebound for Marry Poppins after that underwhelming opening. It even looks like Bumblebee is going to end up doing pretty respectable numbers as well at least it seems to be on track to pass TLK domestically. I am very curious to see where Holmes and Watson and Vice go from here though considering the weak WOM for both so far.

Holmes and Watson at 0% on RT with a 18% audience score. :funny: I'm surprised it made as much as it did OD.

People have been waiting ten years for Ferrell and Reilly to team up again. Just sucks that Rob Cohen is no Adam McKay and McKay is wasting his time trying to be a serious Seth McFarlane.

Aquaman is at $556m WW at the moment, should be at 700m by the end of the weekend. Depending on how it holds 1 billion may be in play.

Aquaman seems like such a random overseas juggernaut considering all the other DCEUbfilms did okay to disappointing overseas.

Aquaman has a lot of action scenes, which is probably one of the reasons it's doing so well overseas

Etan Cohen, not Rob Cohen.

I suppose it's easy to confuse them since they're both hacks by the last name of Cohen.

Action movies transcend language barriers better than dialogue driven movies. Nothing to do with sophistication.

God really Aquaman. Solo is the biggest blunder of the SW series. Would have cleared 400 here.

It's time for Will Ferrell to get the Sandler Netflix contract

On the Blank Check podcast (a great show I think many here would enjoy - almost every episode ends with a box office game!), they covered Aquaman this week and discussed how the movie feels explicitly made for an Asian audience to an extent that no other Hollywood movie has matched, their reasoning being that the film is almost entirely visual spectacle, mythology/exposition, and extremely broad humor, all of which translates more easily to those regions. I think it makes a decent amount of sense - go to 54:30 here to lsten to their convo about it: https://audioboom.com/posts/7125643-aquaman

I don't think Solo would have opened any bigger, it would have had longer legs, but I don't think it would have done north of 300m.

Mary Poppins probably gains as much as Solo does in this spot. We would have just seen Mary gross 125m and Solo gross 275m. The studio obviously saw Mary as the more important film that needed more promotion and a better release date than Solo.

Ferrell would have been better off making Daddy's Home 3 to release this Christmas. Ooor he and Reilly could have teamed up for Step Brothers 2.

On The Basis of Sex did awesome on Christmas. It's a totally feel-good Christmas kind of movie. They should have started it wider in around 300 theaters.

Unless he can get Adam McKay to direct him again.
