Do you even need to ask? This is Disney we're talking about. They couldn't even let 92-year-old Dick Van Dyke sit this one out. They'll obviously be heavily using some of the old songs.

It'll have 2 days by itself (unless you consider preview impact) to get the WOM machine fired up. It will either be immune to the cluster of 12/21 releases or be totally obliterated by them.

If the Lin Manuel-Miranda songs are excellent the sky is the limit.

I’m definitely feeling this will do well enough out of the gate to get this club. I think long term legs really depend on the songs. If they connect a la Greatest Showman, the sky’s the limit. If not, it will probably not have much life after New Years.

I’m thinking a 45-50m three day opening and a second weekend that’s either flat or increases from that. As Aquaman will drop 30-40% week 2 at least, it should be number 1 over New Years after Aquaman out opens it.

I think the opening will be soft (Wednesday and Thursday numbers especially) and then really get going the week after. Considering this is probably the most holiday friendly film this season I think the question is how high this can go.

The first two songs were released yesterday, and they’re not bad, but they sound very much like they’re trying to mimic the feel of the old songs, which might work, but I think it would have been better to make it sound more different. They’re never going to top the original, so they really should have done something not comparable, IMO.

I think it's a solid bet to go at least 200. This month time period itself hasn't had at least one film make over 200 since 2010, and I have a lot more faith in this than Aquaman.

This looks like everything anyone would be looking for outside of SW this Christmas. I won't even rule out Jumanji numbers

If projections for a 6.2m Friday are true, this club is dead pretty much. It still might crawl to 200, but I doubt it.

I wonder did Disney mess up the marketing or was there really no way this could have done better? Tracking never went sub 35m from major outlets. Is Mary Poppins more forgotten than we thought? It seems to have all the ingredients of a successful Christmas musical plus more widely known source material than something like Into the Woods or even Les Mis.

Yeah, nobody cares about the original. So glad this is underperforming. It's about a magical nanny. We're in 2018. Girls want to aspire to more than being nannies.

Well it's the law of averages. If you put out so much product, some are bound to fail.

This club ain’t coming anywhere close, but it’s still well on pace to out gross every recent Christmas musical other than maybe Showman so I’m hesitant to call it a flop. It’s in trouble if it makes nothing overseas, but if it can make 300m WW, it’s in fine shape financially and not an embarrassment.
