I did a poll in Germany's largest Marvel fan group on Facebook about their facotire MCU film (Civil War has been playing here for a week).
Guardians of the Galaxy had about as many votes as the other 12 films combined. Yeah, the sequel will do very well.

I'm out for now. If CW finishes above $450m I'll think it'll be close.

This won't play like ASM though. It looks different and won't just be copy of original Spider-Man like ASM.

Re: SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING >$151m OW Club
Even after seeing CW and really liking Tom Holland's Spider-Man I'm still not sure if this going to happen. It's possible for sure, but I feel like absolutely everything needs to go right for it. RDJ should be enough for $100M+, but the trailers/reviews need to be great aswell. Also, they better have a villain that's actually worth a damn in this.

Well, Spider-Man actually has several good, unique villains. It shouldn't be difficult for Marvel to have a good Norman Osborn, Doc Ock, Kraven, Mysterio, etc.. Norman is probably very likely to be in the first film.

I'll join.
I thought Tom Holland nailed it. It made me think if Jaime bell was his age right now that he'd be spiderman. Anyway, I'm interested in yet another spiderman reboot. Hopefully Sony doesn't fudge it up

Likely not
I imagine it will open large but not this large.
It will have good legs as part 1 films of Marvel all have had good legs so far.

I assume in 1924's logic Civil War is probably a disappointment as well.

Re: SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING >$151m OW Club
Out
It'll be close, but $60 million seems a little too steep. This is also the third incarnation of the character in eight years. As fresh as Holland's (20 minute) take was, some people still might be burnt out on Spidey.
Now, that's not to say that this version won't be wildly successful. It will be. I just think it'll take a little more convincing to get everyone who saw Spider-Man 3 opening weekend (not everyone with inflation, but you get my point) back on board.

This will be everybody's fave version of Spider-man and Holland will be a mega star.
That said, this will not reach the Maguire/Raimi heights.

Re: SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING >$151m OW Club
I wouldn't be surprised if someone made a Spider-Man: Homecoming OVER Civil War Club at some point. I mean could you imagine how fucking crazy it would be if this opened within $20-$25M of CW ? Makes me even more doubtful this will happen honestly. If it did though it would definitely be the BIGGEST surprise story of the summer.
