Hopefully Kingsman doesn't have a bad drop this weekend, think this may kill it. So dumb to not release one of these in August.

Yeah, Wonder Woman reminds me a bit of Star Trek '09, Skyfall, or Deadpool, where I can see it show up at some of the precursors and get some heat, even if it doesn't make it in the end. Gal Gadot could make a play too if Actress wasn't such a bloodbath this year.

As for BR2049, some of the reviews still seem to hint that this could be a bit dense for mainstream audiences, but being the only event movie next month could still help its legs. And those ticket sales seem very promising, as I expected this to be more backloaded. I think I'm in the same range as Magnus for now.

I like her (she's had some good supporting roles in the past), but she wouldn't make a play for best actress in any year ever.

If the Razzie panel found their balls again, she would win the Worst Actress category.

I'm sorry, but as much as Gadot seems like a genuinely nice person, the day she wins an Oscar or is even in talks with a potential list of winners is the day the world ends.

WW isn't getting crap. Logan is the much more logical choice. Both for Picture and Actor (Golden Globes of course, and maybe winning, WW will no doubt get some traction there but won't win anything, the movie is literally a Cliffnotes of how to make a good superhero movie)

I think they’re both good for Globe nominations, WW won’t win though. Logan too, it’s kind of weird if they go in the comedy or musical category. It’d be The Martian all over again.

LOL, for real. The only thing that can maybe happen for Logan is maybe Adapted Screenplay (that category is so barren) and maaaaaaaaaybe Supporting Actor for Stewart if that category is open.

And I'm not saying that Gadot would win, just that she would probably get a decent shot at a nomination in a year where there weren't a lot of contenders, like the 2014 race when they nominated Cotillard for a foreign language film that 14 people saw.

But that's all a bit off topic, both films have a fraction of the Oscar chances of Blade Runner, which is probably good for like five tech nominations and making a real play in the major categories.

Gal Gadot is not getting Best Actress Nomination, Logan has better shot at Best Actor. None of the movies will get to BP anyways but if I will give Logan an edge because its the type of movie that will sit well with Academy voters.

Hopefully I don't have to see Blade Runner to understand this new one.

I read a review saying that you didn't need to see the first to understand this one and also states that it may in fact be better to not have seen the first so you come into this one without comparing the two.

I finally watched Blade Runner tonight after putting it off for so many years. I know it wasn't necessary, but I was always curious about it anyways. I liked it, but didn't love it. I feel better now that I got a little more background info before seeing 2049, although I hope I enjoy it a lot more than the first movie.

Blade Runner is a bore.

Blade Runner 2049 is also a bore. A 3.0 multiplier from an October release would be great. This ain't getting that! I don't even see it getting Taken 2 legs.

I'm thinking 50M OW/140M domestic right now.

I think overseas will save this film though financially. Currently thinking 260M overseas at least, for a worldwide total of about 400M at minimum. Both domestic and overseas totals could end up higher though.

I forgot to add, regardless of the box office totals that BD2049 will achieve, I expect this will gain a solid following on home video in the years to come.

It'll be forgotten like Arrival was. This isn't the next Fury Road. Sorry.
