Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
I barely remember anything about the first Avengers film. Out of the 2010s blockbusters that will go on to be iconic, I honestly don't think any of the Avengers movies will be at that level. Hardly any of the Marvel movies in the first place, maybe Black Panther.

Yea, the MCU is like Pirates of the Caribbean. Won't be iconic in years to come. All shots, merchandise, etc. merges into one and could be from any film. It's the brand that is strong, not each of its individual parts. Unlike something like Nolan's DK series where The Dark Knight is iconic.

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
While I agree that the brand is the biggest sell here but there are many memorable characters from the franchise (not just Sparrow) but mostly all of the first tier Avengers are well know including Black Widow

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
The first Pirates is the one millennial parents will show their kids just like boomer parents showed their kids the Star Wars films. But they will probably skip the sequels.
With the Marvel movies, there may be simply too many of them for subsequent generations to get hooked. The first Iron Man maybe. The first Guardians as well. But stuff like Thor: Ragnarok, Civil War, Age of Ultron? It's all a blur. But then again I'm totally disconnected from the Marvel films at this point so what do I know.

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
I Would Say the Circle Shot from the Avengers in 2012 is one of the most iconic shots in Superhero history.
It is likely one of the most iconic 2010 blockbusters in terms of expanding superhero films to the entire Globe and more bringing forth this idea of superhero team up movies and creating film universes.
It is one of the biggest hits ever as well.

I disagree, and say it as someone who is into the MCU and many of my friends are in the same boat. The MCU has been on a role recently as all the Phase 3 movies have been very well received and the box office seems to be picking up steam. All grossed over $300 million, outside of Dr. Strange (with Civil War over $400 and Black Panther approaching $700) and all being well over 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. There is absolutely no indication that people are getting tired of this (the trend is the exact opposite) or that people can't distinguish between movies.

This movie an option my flight from Doha to Boston a few weeks back and I saw like 5 people watching.

4,474 theater count -- second highest ever. I was about to say this was a new record, beating the 8-year record held by Eclipse, but I didn't even realize Despicable Me 3 opened in 4,535 last year. I feel like no one even mentioned DM3 breaking the record?

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
$270m opening weekend would be truly insane. I cannot fathom. Why would it do $100m more than civil war?
Thinking this goes $235mish.

That would mean one of the worst WoM for all time record breaker. I don't see how it misses $700m by so much if it opens to $270m.

IW just had the 2nd biggest OD ever (after TFA). https://www.filmink.com.au/avengers-inf ... e-history/It was a public holiday while TFA opened on a Thursday in December.

It's not breaking the record. No way. I'm watching it again tomorrow. I think it's great but that ending for general audiences is gonna be a wuh.

I think it is too dark for repeat viewings. I think the sequel will have a better IM since i bet it will have a more uplifting ending.

There were claps at the end of all three of my showings, plus Disney made it clear that everyone knows and sees "Thanos will return" by keeping the post-credits scene at the very last.

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
$600m should be good for this. I don't think many were expecting a record-shattering gross. This is a sequel without a meticulously constructed storyline. With less of the novelty factor helping it, it won't outgross TFA, Black Panther or the first Avengers adjusted.
