Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
I've seen it.
Really like it.
But, I'm not the typical GA so who knows if they have realized that it's been split into 2.
If not, it could have some harsher legs than expected.
I'm making my way through all the films through Netflix etc. and from the ones I've seen, I'd say it's the best.
A lot of the films blur together, so it's a bit difficult to rank right now, but if I split them into 2 groups it'd look like this:
Good Avengers: Infinity War Black Panther The Avengers Iron Man
Not Very Good Avengers: Age of Ultron Captain America Captain America: The Winter Soldier Captain America: Civil War Incredible Hulk, The Iron Man 2 Iron Man 3 SpiderMan: Homecoming (from memory) Thor

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
I'd love to see $2b for this but I don't think this will do it. SW7 couldn't get there with a bigger domestic number and I don't see this increasing 27% from AoU to get $1.2b in OS markets.

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
Its not dropping much from that mark now. Most likely another 70-80 reviews will come in later.

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
Film gets an 86% on RT and is considered to have bad reviews?

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
Oh, I wish everyone would cut the shit. It's doing standard MCU pre-Bland Panther, but now everyone is just comparing it to BP so there's an undercurrent of disappointment to everything (reviews, wom, box office). If BP never existed, people would be creaming in their pants at certified fresh 86% for the 18th installment in a franchise, and a possible $225m opening.

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
I can't speak for others and their comparisons but I'm comparing this to Avengers, AoU, CW first then the solo movies. I didn't really love BP as much as the reviews and general reception here. And anyways it's BO hasn't started yet so there is no point comparing the two. Plus I think with the expected humongous OW of IW it can still make slightly more than BP.

DOM 650/700M OS 1.15/1.30B It definitely has a shot at 2B WW, though for now I'll settle for a more conservative 1.8 billions.

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
We already have our wraparound queues (which actually extend outside the building for a film like this) set up. Going to be a wild night.

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
I don't want anything spoiled, but the prospect of a depressing/somber conclusion (as referenced in myriad reviews) has me wondering if I want to rush out and see it.

If I'm remembering correctly that was the second highest pre-seller of all-time on Fandango before TLJ came out. Barring some unusual frontloadedness I believe this is locked to beat TLJ's OW.

Oh I thought it was selling higher than TLJ but still very impressive.

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
Infinity War has more pre-sales than the previous 7 MCU films combined. Should tell you something about comparisons.
Straight comparing to a different franchise that acts differently will lead to poor conclusions.

Straight comparing to a different franchise that acts differently will lead to poor conclusions. It's not going to open equal to combined presales of previous MCU movies which btw weren't big in presales. So no that doesn't say much. MCU has become frontloaded and this one is supposedly the most frontloaded of the series. Plus breaking OW record is going to be impossible if IW does what say BP did in presales. Btw I did mention it several times IW doesn't need to match TFA but it should get close to those numbers to have a shot at OW.

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
Social media makes pop culture travel insanely fast. It took 20 years for jurassic park to feel nostalgic, but only 6 years for Avengers.
