Sleeper of the summer will be:
Stealth.
This baby is unfourtunatly going to wipe out everything in it's path. I think it is a top gun clone, and will be a entertaining, cheesy, crap fest. But I also think it has HUGE urban appeal, and will be a HUGE hit at the box office.
I see this pile of garbage racking in over 200 when all is said and done. Unfourtunate because The Island is going to get steamrolled by it when it will be a much superior film.

Well, seeing as I have not seen any trailers or anything for it yet, I haev to go by the plot and the cast and release date. And yes, it does seem like it has all the ingredients to be a big hit.

there is a trailer out for it ... the trailer is actually quite wicked, only problem is much like the trailer for "the longest yard" you are essentially watching a 2 min movie from which you can easily guess the outcome. I hate trailers like that. I will see the movie anyway. I'm such a cheap slut for a fighter pilot action movie.

You could be right, but my call on the sleeper of the summer is The Wedding Crashers. It looks hilarious and comedy sells well in the summer.

I think the first half of the trailer looks brilliant. That alone will bring audiences in droves. It has a good release date and I wouldnt be surprised to see it make $150m+

I hope this cracks $100M.
Jessica Biels 4th consecutive hit.
The Rules Of Attraction- Indie Cult Hit ($12M worldwide, budget $4M)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre- $107M+ worldwide (On a budget of $9.5M)
Cellular- $55.6M worldwide (Budget of $25M)
Blade Trinity- $125.7M worldwide (Outgrossing the original)
I love her, and i'm glad she's had a such a good success rate.
STEALTH and ELIZABETH TOWN will hopefully add to this track record.

Would the WC really be considered a sleeper - based on the trailers I am expecting a good movie and BO.

The trailer isn't all that bad though the movie has a bit of that "based on a video game" cheesy vibe imho...

A SLeeper is basically any movie that will open reasonably well but then continue to show good form. It'll gross something very high while still staying under the radar. Notebook is a good example of this. Italian Job was another good example.

Stealth will be anything, but a sleeper hit. This movie is destined to open big and show okay-ish legs. See as possible comparisons I, Robot, just with slightly worse legs as I don't expect Stealth to have such a great WoM. It will cross $100 million with ease, though.

The Wedding Crashers, and maybe The Island, will be the sleepers of the summer.

I think Episode III will be the sleeper of the summer.

Yeah, I see it opening with around $20-25 million and slowly making its way to $300+ million with three increases in a row after its opening weekend.

I think a few movies in August have potential to be sleepers (namely The Dukes of Hazzard and The Skeleton Key).
If Must Love Dogs is actually a good romcom, $80M+ is not out of the question.

you can sooooo not call Cellular a Jessica Biel movie considering shes only in it for a total of 30 secs in fact it so quick you almost have to take a double look to make sure its her
But im gonna go with Traveling pants to remark to this thread...not huge in anyway but I see great legs

Lol, Rules Of Attraction is a cult hit my ass. That movie was just a dud. It opened over 1400 theaters and only made 6.5m total at the BO. There was no cult following for that movie on dvd or anything of that matter.

Totally agree, while I love the film, it wasn't any kind of a hit. CELLULAR isn't really her movie either. Take two of those flicks off

Sleeper, as in the terms of a movie that nobody expects much from, but it becomes a hit?
Dukes of Hazzard is seriously being underestimated. Brothers Grimm will be a sleeper hit if it does indeed keep to the current summer schedule, and if it moves, Must Love Dogs, one of the few great looking romcoms out this year, will get a lot more attention. It's opening in a crowded marketplace right now, so it's prospects of breaking out aren't as good, despite the counterprogramming it offers.

Haha, that's called bending the info if I've ever seen it. Cellular she was barely in, Blade: Trinity dissapointed big time (much as I hate to say it), and Rules of Attraction was laughed at as a HUGE bomb, it ate up about 15-20 million in marketing. So she's has one hit, one bomb, and one dissapointment. Yeah, great record.
However, as for Stealth, I agree it'll do great. Jamie Foxx is red hot, and I think this will open over 50 million. I'd go with Cinderella Man, Travelling Pants and Lords of Dogtown as potential sleepers.

What the hell does the Jet in sealth use for fuel? Is it nuclear based? Otherwise it should run out of fuel in a few hours and have to land.
I think the movie looks a bit crappy, but I will go just to see Jessica Biel in a swimsuit.
