I can't seem to find the Cinemascore for La La Land. Are there precedents for other movies not being rated by Cinemascore?

Everyone truly hates La La Land, but they are afraid you will weaponize the CinemaScore and derail their venal hype train before the Oscars. No, in truth, it started in limited release. Frequently, even if they poll a film released in select cities, they do not publish the result on their site...even after it expands. You similarly will not find scores on their website for, to cite a slate of random examples, Brooklyn, The King's Speech, Loving, Moonlight, Nocturnal Animals, Spotlight, The Theory of Everything, and others, though they may be reported in articles. The exceptions seem to be when it is a major studio's movie, and it very clearly, rapidly switches from limited to nationwide play (see: Live by Night, Patriots Day).

A Dog's Tale - A Resident Evil: The Final Chapter - B- Gold - B+ (if polled and/or reported; The Founder was not, it seems)

A Dog's Purpose D+
Anyone that still sees it will not be a dog lover or if they are they will still hate it because of PETA.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter B
In-line with the other entries.

No. The people who go will be a heartland audience either unaware of or ambivalent toward the controversy. And ultimately I am sure it is a sun-dappled, teary-eyed, crowd-pleasing movie.

CinemaScore is certainly a sketchy operation. If they were really proud of the validity of their surveying technique, results wouldn't be so inconsistent and difficult to find. It's just a industry tool that has gained a bit of a public awareness - they keep a lid on it for the most part.

Re: Predict The CinemaScore's For This Weekend's Openers
David got A Dog's Purpose (A) correct and I got Resident Evil correct (B). Magic Mike was closest with Gold (predicted a B but received a B-).
