Re: The Dark Knight Rises Pre-Sales and Sellout Watch
BTW - if this can somehow manage to sell out every single showing at Navy Pier, that would be $175,000 from one IMAX theatre. One of the most popular IMAXes in the country yes, but still. I calculated that it's already almost 40% of the way there from looking at what's sold out so far.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Pre-Sales and Sellout Watch
I'll try to keep track of NYC showings. I just bought 8 tickets for the IMAX 8:30PM showing on Friday night at AMC Loews Kips Bay.
I know the 12:01 in IMAX at Lincoln Square 13 has been sold out since January.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Pre-Sales and Sellout Watch
It's really going to come down to how many IMAX locations will be running 24/7. The Pacific Science Center IMAX sold out it's 12am, 4pm, and 7pm showings in a matter of minutes... if it can continue this demand, they'll definitely have 3am and 6am showings for the whole weekend.
Speaking of which, AMC still hasn't sorted out the IMAX marathon. WTF!!

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Pre-Sales and Sellout Watch
Avengers set the bar extremely high.
I don't think it's guaranteed to be the top grosser of the year nor reaching 600 million, but I think the rest are positive.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Pre-Sales and Sellout Watch
Yeah 100 million dollar looks possible and that would be pretty much beat TA opening weekend. However many would assume a 100 million opening day =250+ million weekend. As I said before a 100 million opening day means a max weekend of 215-220 million. Just pointing it out... This will be more front loaded then TDK and TA over the weekend. However in the end the weekdays really will be the thing that will determine if TDKR gets a big gross or an epic gross.

let's not forget that the movie has to be better than TDK.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Pre-Sales and Sellout Watch
Yeah that's the biggest thing going against TDKR.
People expect this to be one of the best films ever.
