I Predict BATMAN BEGINS To Be This Year's HULK.. Flame On!!
I can't explain the vibe I'm getting from this movie in several TV Spots and trailers I've seen on my Video On DEMAND, which shows all the Summer Movie Trailers, but just the look of it, the Dark, Gloomy and depressing feel it has to it, I can't help but to think this movie is gonna perform much the same way as The HULK did back in 2003.. Now I enjoyed The HULK and all and maybe because it felt more closer to the comics, but I can understand why moviegoers didn't embrace this and why it fell close to 70% in it's 2nd weekend, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that with all the fanboy hype being generated for BATMAN BEGINS from various other websites such as IGN, RT or CHUD and the posters making it out to be like the Second Coming or something, I think this is gonna end up being compared heavily to the mood and depression that the HULK was and that's not a good thing.. I'm sure like the HULK, all the fans will rush out the 1st weekend to see it and give it a HULK like opening of 60 Million for the weekend, but after that, I think WOM is gonna kill this, not to mention it being what?? The 5th movie in the series which will play into this as well.. Flame on folks.. I know I'm certain to get my ass ripped for this, but I can't shake this feeling of that in comparison of the 2.. I remember months before The HULK came out and how I hype the holy hell out of this movie only to turn around and have it shoved up my ass to the tune of 132 Million dollars when I predicted an astounding SPIDERMAN like box office number and all, but will see in 2 months I suppose.. As always if I'm wrong, you know I'll be the 1st to say I was.. Thoughts??

Batman Begins are going to do better than HULK, BKB. the movie is far better. the WOM might not help the movie but it'll surely pass HULK final gross. 150 million is a lock.

I agree, Amityville surely will pass it and probably become the 2nd biggest movie this year right behind ROTS.
WOM wont kill Begins, it'll probably be one of the best recieved superhero movies right behind the Spider-Man movies. Stop making stupid threads like this, just keep it in the other Batman threads.

It's not a stupid thread and it is something to give thought to.. BEGINS Could very well end up like The HULK did in the reviews baded on the Dark, Gloomy depressing storylibne it posesses and that's fine for the hardcore fans, but what about the casual moviegoer still feeling the sting of the last 2 BATMAN Movies and this being the 5th movie in a franchise??? You can't say it's a LOCK to do this or anything or guarantee anything when it's 2 months away.. Will see and as always, if I'm wrong, then so be it.. It won't be the 1st nor will it certainly be the last.. I'm think ing very rational here and it could happen..

The movie is far better?? Hell, we haven't seen it yet and I said this exact same thing about The HULK before it came out and look how it backfired and how it was received?? Nothing is ever a LOCK in the world of movies folks.. That is 1 thing I have learned.. It's up in the air at this point, just like no one would've predicted AOTC to gross less than Phantom Menace.. Anything could happen and also, BEGINS is the 5th movie in a franchise where the last 2 movies were poorly received from non-hardcore fans..

On a side note, Baba if you see this, I ask that you leave this open because I think this is a different issue than the thread you created some time back, Please??

Y'know, I'm actually not convinced about Begins. Batman is popular, no doubt about it, but Warner Bros really needs to get a trailer out SOON, and no May 19th won't cut it folks. Awareness ain't that high and while the cast is solid, no one is really a bankable star in there. I'll change my prediction for the final trailer, but I'm also on the fence about the WOM. I mean c'mon guys we still have yet to see it, it still COULD be shitty, as much as we don't want it to be. Right now I'm thinking about 75/200, but that's on the more generous side of things, it could do lower numbers depending how WB handles this one.

I doubt this will pass $200M.
But will come close, with between $140M-$180M.
Theres too much competition in Summer for this to do well.
I have a feeling WAR OF THE WORLDS is gonna grab over $200M.

BKB quickly ushers his buddy Moviedude out of the forum before Batfans begin throwing rocks at him..

When BB will be depressing, glommy dark etc I am happy...... I give a peep what others think. Its very likely we get the first good and correct adaptation of Batman with real actors (some efforts like Batman Mask of the Phantasm etc were pretty good but it was not a fulltime movie with real actors). I dont know if BB is gona be good but when it is
I hope it will do at least somewhere between 150-200 cause so we can hope for a sequel.
For the Trailer. To bring it with ROTS is to late I think. So they better keep the hype running.
I really hope that BB is gona be great. Sure, I dont know if it will be.

I don't see why an anticipated movie like this couldn't do X2 numbers, but that's just me.

Meh .. you all know me. I've always been skeptical about its chances. Read my article for it (which btw i'l be modifying soon) and my unpredictable movie postings.
Begins indeed has a chance of pulling a Hulk, I said so in my own article for it.
But I went and re read the entire script. Been watching the spots more closely. Its resembling the Hulk less and less. The only thing that i'm still concerned about SPOILER
How long the bat takes to make a presence. Thats it really. After that, its one hell of a ride.

BKB, I can't believe the day has come for me to say it....
I agree with you. While I don't see it doing Hilk numbers, I see it following the same frontloading pattern leading to an underwhelming gross of under $170 million.

Apparently, if you were to put this topic at the Rotten Tomatoes forum, 98% of the population there will strongly disagree with you. In fact, most of them actually said Batman Begins will make more than ROTS. If you dont believe me, check out the thread titled "Batman and SW will rule the summer". I dont think I have seen that much hype for a Batman movie since the old 1989 Batman and Im somewhat inclined to believe Batman Begins may outgross ROTS. At least people know what they are getting into with Begins
PS: Just so I can be an ass, I'll link this topic to the RT forum so all the Batfans can bash you bKB

Box Office wise, it's possible but I think it will gross around $200m.
Quality wise would be really really tough, as Hulk is one of the greatest comic book adaptation.

Theres no movie opening on June 17th, hmm wonder why , then on the 24th Bewitched comes out, which isnt gonna hurt Batman one bit, finally on the 29th comes out, but by then Begins will have a shit load of money. Begins is opening at the pefect time, theres no way this isnt gonna make atleast 200mil.

I agree. It's got 0 competition for two straight weekends, and that's when all the big money comes in anyways. It's bound to open in over 3,800+ theaters. The PTA's for all the Batman movies have all been between $15,000-$20,000, so I would see it on the higher end, similar to the highly anticipated X2: X-Men United. I don't see how this can't do atleast $175 million. I expect around $200 million.
