"Ocean's Twelve" races to $69 mil overseas
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Ocean's Twelve" and "The Incredibles" led the foreign box office during a quiet weekend as many movie theaters across Europe closed on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
A new Chinese-language film, "Kung Fu Hustle," set records in Asian bows, while Australia welcomed "Meet the Fockers" the day after Christmas. "The Polar Express" and "National Treasure" were also holiday weekend contenders.
"Ocean's Twelve" grossed an estimated $24 million, lifting its foreign total to about $69 million. The crime caper maintained its No. 1 hold in most markets, including France, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands. Openings included Belgium ($1.1 million) and Mexico ($1.9 million).
"The Incredibles" zoomed up to about $223.9 million overseas, following an estimated $21.1 million weekend, highlighted by openings in Australia ($1.2 million) and Russia ($1 million).
"Kung Fu Hustle" set all sorts of new benchmarks in five Asian territories, picking up a weekend total of $15.1 million, including $7.8 million from China and $3.2 million from Hong Kong -- record bows in both. The pattern spread to Taiwan, where the major city of Taipei reported its biggest bow ever, $2 million. For Singapore ($1.3 million), it was the second biggest opening ever, and for Malaysia ($945,000), it ranked No. 3 on the all-time list.
Australia's box office was especially hot on Boxing Day, the day after Christmas, with two new entries -- "Meet the Fockers" and "The Incredibles" -- generating $3 million in a single day. "Fockers" came up with an outstanding one-day gross of $1.8 million, vs. $1.2 million for "Incredibles."
"The Polar Express" sold $10.6 million worth of tickets, taking its foreign total to $83.1 million.
"National Treasure" dug up an estimated $7.3 million for a total of $51.7 million. It opened No. 2 in France ($3.6 million), second to "The Incredibles" ($4 million).

That sounds fairly resonable. I'm not too certain it will make it to $200 million domestically, but it very well could. I plan on seeing it next week sometime myself.

the first one broke even Internationaly with its domestic grose so I think its safe to say this one will break even or make more due to expantion of the international market 8)

the first made $164,200,000, so I say about 175m+ is reasonable.

It could get over 200. I was being cautious.

Everybody I've talked to has loved it. I've not actually seen the original yet. I plan to pick that up tomorrow and watch it Tuesday since I'm off from work. I'll probably see Meet the Fockers sometime late this week or late next week.

I mean, i did before it was released, but now, with its dissapointing weekend numbers, i think itll just be a run of the mill comedy film.
OOHH, :? actually, it has made roughly $70M in 5 days :? oohhhh i dont know!

What distributors describe as a "difficult" weekend at the overseas boxoffice livened up on Sunday after many movie houses in Europe, especially in the United Kingdom, were closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in deference to family celebrations. The two year-end hits, "Ocean's Twelve" and "The Incredibles," emerged again as the overall offshore favorites, and a new Chinese-language film, "Kung Fu Hustle," set records in Asian bows, while Australia warmly welcomed "Meet the Fockers" the day after Christmas. "The Polar Express" and "National Treasure" were also holiday weekend contenders. A weekend report from Warner Bros. indicated that "Ocean's Twelve" grossed an estimated $24 million, a 20% drop from the previous weekend, and lifted its foreign cume to an estimated $69 million. The crime caper maintained its No. 1 hold in most markets, including France, Germany, Spain and Holland. New openings included Belgium ($1.1 million) and Mexico ($1.9 million). Key second-weekend holdovers saw France pickup $4.4 million; Spain, $2.4 million; Italy, $3.2 million; Germany, $2.5 million; and Holland, $971,600.

As expected, it was another $10+ million weekend for The Polar Express
The worldwide total stands at over $223 million. Looks like it will reach $100 million internationally and $250 million worldwide!

Still doesn't come close to a profit from the box office. It will need strong DVD sales, which it will likely get.

I don't think so, considering that Christmas is over now.

Only LOTR movies have made more money in December opening weekends than MTF. Most people were predicting an opening in the 30's. It is at mid 40's.
The weekend numbers for MTF is not disappointing at all. In fact that is the biggest Christmas weeeknd opener.
It will make 30+ mil. next weekend and should be around 120 total by then.
