Re: Release Date Change Thread
Oh, whoops. So... it'll release (assuming it doesn't get delayed again) nearly 2 full years after filming ended...
WB (or WB Discovery, I guess) seems to be in rough shape. I came across a report that they lost nearly $3.5 billion in Q2. And I've seen countless online ads with HBO Max being offered for "limited time" at 40% off for a full year (as low as $5.83/month) if you pay upfront. When I checked into it (thinking about signing up again), expecting the deal to be available for about a month, I was surprised to see that it's all the way until October 30th. (Feels like a "desperation" deal to get as much money as fast as possible.)

Re: Release Date Change Thread
WB have been a mess for a long time.
Another batch of silly moves. Especially for Aquaman.

Interestingly, Trick ’r Treat is coming to theatres this October for the first time ever.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
100% shocked and stunned that Secret Wars moved into the summer kickoff date that every Avengers film has used. Shocked and stunned!!
So with Blade out of 2023, maybe they move Marvels to November and Ant-Man and the Waspe to July?

Re: Release Date Change Thread
No surprise at all regarding Secret Wars lol
Disney has packed 24 but seems to have left 23 a bit weak (or maybe I haven't checked their slate properly)

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Disney 2023 still should be solid with Ant-Man, Guardians 3, Little Mermaid, Elemental (Pixar), IJ5, Marvels, Haunted Mansion, A Haunting In Venice and Wish.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Yes that's a solid slate actually. Forgot about IJ5 and Elemental.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Blade is delayed because Mahershala hated the script so much be refused to film it. He then found the rewrite to be even worse.
You'd think it would not be that difficult to get competent screenwriters to work for Marvel. The script for DSITMOM was so sloppy and amateur, its very worrying he's writing the script for Secret Wars.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
It's unlikely but I wonder if Spoiler Alert could out-gross Bros if it picks up some steam with good reviews and awards affiliation.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
On December 2nd they're releasing a PG-13 version of Father Stu called Father Stu: Reborn. No joke. With the title their best hope is going to be tricking people into thinking there's a sequel already. Not many are going to care about going to the theater to watch an edited version of the movie. Especially when the regular version is streaming on Netflix.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
And it only made, like, $20 million. If No Way Home with its whopping $800 million could only attract a further $9 million from a same year re-release, then Father Stu is going to make peanuts, lol.

Anti-semetism is hot right now. So if you've got a Christian movie with Mel Gibson just sitting there then ya gotta do everything possible to make it more family friendly right?

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Stephen King's The Boogeyman movie has shifted from streaming on Hulu to getting a theatrical release! Will be opening in June against Spider-verse.
Clearly worked well for Smile which went from streaming to theaters so this is a good sign that Disney is starting to get the message!
Should add maybe $50-70M to the summer slate.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Ben Affleck directed Nike movie starring him and Matt Damon, Air, scheduled for theatrical release worldwide April 5th before hitting Amazon Prime. Also stars Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser, Chris Messina as David Falk, Matthew Maher as Peter Moore, Marlon Wayans as George Raveling, Chris Tucker as Howard White, Viola Davis as Deloris Jordan, Gustaf Skarsgård as Horst Dassler and Julius Tennon. Think this has $100M potential if Amazon keeps it in theaters long enough. A Nike story about how they secured the Michael Jordan deal I think is much more commercially accessible than The Last Duel. Would be the first big Jordan project since The Last Dance which was a blockbuster hit so there's a big audience that would be interested. Good to see another movie be added to 2023 calendar with good box office prospects. https://variety.com/2023/film/news/ben- ... 235498755/

The Batman: Part II: October 3, 2025
Looks like the DCU pics will get prime slots while the outsiders (Reeves, Joker) will get off peak slots (not that October isn't a good slot)
They've given Supes the July Nolan date for TDK/TDKR which is positive at least.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Superman should be 1 week later in July. Nolan and Potter films of that era had 2 weeks breathing room between int and the big July 4th film.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Dates TBD but on the Disney earnings call, they announced Frozen 3, Toy Story 5 and Zootopia 2.
Clearly franchises that deliver $$$ during market downturns. I'm going to assume Chris Evans isn't returning to the TS universe and they'll have Allen back.
