well theres at least one that I know of
Austin Powers 2 made more on its opening weekend then the original made on its entire run. can you think of some more?

OG=original gross

The Terminator 2 got close enough.
Terminator 2 ( OW ) - 32.0
Terminator ( ER ) - 38.0

State of the union is gonna do the oposite.

Triple X ( OW ) - 44.0
State of the Union ( ER ) - 42.0 ( at best )
