Elektra Prediction Thread - (Total: $22,922,000)
Well, you've all seen the trailer by now, so what are your predictions? I think this would have been a $100 million movie if it weren't for the release date. Seriously, January? Come on. That's gonna hurt Elektra, if you ask me.
Elektra Trailer
What are your predictions?

I'm thinking it will do fairly well for a January release:
Opening: $26.5 million
Total: $80.0 million

It looks like it is going to be good, and I would think it will do well in Asian markets due to the plot-line.
I do wonder if this will have the same dark-feel as DareDevil.

This is a fairly interesting movie to predict. It has some things going for it, but at the same time quite a couple going against it.
Pro:
Jennifer Garner is a star in the making. Alias has made her well-known, her role in Daredevil was the best thing about the movie and 13 Going on 30 got great reviews.
Furthermore, the trailer to the movie looks good and in a mont full with oscar contenders and more "intelligent" movies, this pure fun movie will find its audience.
Marvel and comic book adaptations are in. The only true disappointment that Marvel might have had was The Ounisher and that was R-rated.
Contra:
January is a dead month. Seriously, blockbuster have come out in February (Hannibal, The Passion of the Christ) and in March (Ice Age), but January? Not really.
Elektra is just not a well-known character, unlike Hulk, X-Men or Spider-Man.
My early predictions:
Opening weekend - $25.8 million
Total gross - $65.2 million

The trailer looks amazing. I'm going to increase my prediction. Although I don't have a number, I think it can outgross DareDevil.

Any new predictions? I got one. The trailer gets better and better every time I watch it, and my faith in it grows more and more. This could be a real nice hit for January and to start off 2005. Still undecided on whether this has $100 million potential or not.
Opening: $26.0 million
Total: $72.8 million

No real difference between this and Barbwire back when Pamela Anderson was popular and it was a movie based on a comic although Garner is a better actress than Pamela was.
18.5million/ 47.5 million
Didnt people remember that people had between a 25million to 30 million opening prediction for 13 Going on 30 because they overestimated the popularity of Garner. It ended up behind Man On Fire and it will do the same behind Racing Stripes

The trailers have been good, but not out-of-this-world amazing. The butt is decent and the new season of Alias as well as Garner's media presence will help it. Also, don't forget the great DVD sales of Daredevil. However, January has always been a slow month and the estimated theatre count of 2,750+ is not great, it needs over 3,000 for sure.
My new predictions:
Opening weekend - $23 million
Total gross - $58 million

It doesn't look too bad to me. 25/70. With a chance to go higher.

I sense some serious overestimation here.
