Considering that there are no new openers, and that the whole week is a movie-going week, I'll start this now.

The Life Aquatic crowd report.

You know, I haven't seen "The Life Aquatic" yet and I have seen this movie getting mixed reviews to the point whether you either like it or you hate it and after watching Ebert and Roepers show on Sunday and them reviewing it, I take this is a film that's not really funny in the traditional sense that you would think Bill Murray is funny in like his past films, but this just looks, I don't know, Weird and not in a good sense... Is this the type of humor you have to acquire a taste for like Monty Python or something or what??? I love Bill Murray and all and think he is truly the Quintessential Comedy Legend of our time with SNL and the movies he's made, but I hope he's not continuing on the path of being a more dramatic actor than what he does best which is comedy??? Lost In Translation was 1 thing and he should've won BEST ACTOR for that, but got fucked up the Chocolate highway over it thanks to the Academy and the ROTK Sweeping Bullshit, but come on Bill??? Don't go to dramatic on us.. :?

I don't feel like typing up a whole report. I saw Fat Albert in a 400 seater. It was about 50% full (playing on 2 screens). The movie was alright, but nothing special. (C+). I also saw Blade: Trinity again in a 200 seater, and it was about 20% full. Still love it.

What do you mean by dramatic?

What I mean is just that.. Bill Murray's popular in the comedy world for a reason and he does what he does best and that's comedy with his wry, dry sense of humor and sarcasm that best stands out in the all time classic "Groundhog Day"... He was PERFECT in that movie and never have I laughed as hard as I have after viewing that movie for the 1st time.. That's what I think of when I think of Bill Murray, the Quintessential Comedy Actor and Legend, not Dramatic actor like Life Aquatic appears to be a blend of... I'll let him slide on Lost in Translation cause I considered his brand of humor I've described to be quite noticeable in that movie and he played it naturally and quite well when mocking the Japanese Culture and how they get off on American Actors in their Commercials... I suppose it also helps to be a fan of Wes Anderson's type of humor and films to and that also plays into this equation..

I know this is late, but I saw Meet the Fockers on the 23rd of December. It was sold out and the crowd and I loved the movie. I am also checking out another movie this weekend, but I haven't decided.

About what I expected. The action scenes are good, but nothing to brag about. The acting is good except for Giovanni Ribisi, which gets the Most Annoying Actor of 2004 award from me. He was just too annoying. The twist near the end was pretty lame. It's a fun movie, though. Some of the scenes were really cool. Overall, it was a good movie, but nothing special. B-


Oh, and my cousins went to Lemony Snicket's, which was about 85% full in a 400 seater from what I saw.

Overall, I liked it. It was consistenly funny without being a rip snorter.

Also, Beyond the Sea wasn't doing too well. Our first show attracted only 9 people, and our next three shows only averaged 20 people. It looks like this will not be a hit at all.

Saw a 1:55 Life Aquatic at Tigard Cinemas 11. It looked like there were about 30 or so people in there, and it was probably a 200 seater. Trailers were:

Dark Water (no reaction, I'd be interested if I hadn't heard such bad hype)
Constantine (no reaction, my group thought it looked bad though I want to see it)
Hitch (Great reaction for such a small crowd, consistent laughter)
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (no reaction)
Chicken Little (no reaction, looks absolutely ghastly)
The Weather Man (some laughs at the elevator bit, everyone in my group, surprisingly enough, wanted to see it a lot)

As for the movie itself, I loved it, though I'm a huge Wes Anderson fan. I may go into details later on, but for now it's a high A-.
