No, the drops for both are very good. It just amazes me that they're so close (mainly the Superman isn't slightly higher and that Prada isn't way lower).

Superman is going to be the victim of POTC. Prada has the female demo to itself until the 21st (assuming You, Me and Dupree is the piece of garbage I'm assuming it is)

Which itself is sad, but at least it's the Wayans brothers. How the producers of Dupree managed to get Wilson, Dillon, Hudson and Douglas into something that looks like an old school Adam Sandler vehicle is beyond me.

I think Devil weard Prada has a good chance to do $100 million domestically.
SR is underperforming IMO.
i mean common there isn't really a huge difference between the grosses of SR and DVP this wednesday which is kinda shocking to me.
Oh well every summer there are atleast three or four BIG CASUALTIES. This summer it was MI 3, POSEDION and now SUPERMAN RETURNS.

A two million dollar difference is really nothing when one of the films has over 1200 less theatres.
There's going to be a lot of soul-searching in the coming months - and I bet a lot more projects (like Used Guys) are going to get their plugs pulled.

You forgot xXx: State of the Union from 2005 (if you count it as summer).
M:I-3 actually did not do that badly to be counted with those. It will easly make profit considering it'll wind up with $400 million worldwide on a $150 million budget. I mean it will make more profit than Van Hlesing did in 2004...

This is a very good number for Superman, I was expecting near 5 flat. If it stays above 5.5 million, that would be almost 20% drop, dont think it will drop over that. Even if it only increases 40% it will hit 7 million friday. But I think a 55% increase is very reasonable. Superman will have a decent drop.
Very amazing for Prada too, it might hit 100 million in 3 weeks, that has to be a pretty fast for a chick flick? Any films that have done it faster, apart from may the first Tomb Raider?

Say what you guys want, but Superman did much better than expected today. I was expecting it to hit 117 by Thursday, its tracking 4 million ahead.

MI3 had budget rumors anywhere from 150 to 180. It would probably be placed in the same category as Superman Returns. Dont forget Tom Cruise forfeited his usual salary fee because he was using his producer's fee to get like a certain % of total gross for the film. Cruise probably wont be too happy with the results, he needed the money to do some phasing and auditing the gamma level

Van Helsing's budget was $175+ million : )
And the only ones that won't be happy is the Scientology..uhhh...CEO's. The sect usually gets 10% off the salaries of their members.
