 Realistically, how long should we wait for Pirates 4?
I think there's still alot they could do with this franchise.......
**some minor spoilers**
Pirates 3 hinted at the fact that this is possibly the end of the Pirates culture but that's not what we really saw in the movie.......the 9 Pirate Lords still exist (thye really did nothing in this movie) and the British armada simply retreated. Only a general of sorts was killed....
I feel that there's life left in the Will and Elizabeth story and they haven't really closed the door on Jack's character.
Perhaps in the next movie, they can show the King of England ordering some sort of attack.
---
Though the big question I want to ask is....if there's a Pirates 4, how long do you think the break will be or should be?
* Indiana Jones - 19 years
* Star Wars - 16 years
* Terminator 3 - 12 years
* Die Hard - 12 years
* The Mummy - 7 years

3-4 years. Disney is probably waiting to see the OW numbers. If they're huge, then it will announce that Pirates 4 will start next year or in 2009. Hopefully!

I think they should wait awhile come up with a great script and take their time shooting it, I loved the movie but I think things could have easily gone sour. I really would like a prequel though I think so much could be done with it.

Till they figure how much they screwed up the memory of the first one and get the urge to correct things.

Forever because the only reason there would be another is for monetary reasons, not artistic ones.

I personally do not think there will be more films.
But if there are...
DO NOT READ THIS POST IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE AND INTEND TOO!!!!
***MAJOR spoilers***
---The Fountain of Youth both Barbossa mentioned when he stole back the Pearl at the end of the film, and Jack was also looking where the Fountain of Youth was on the map at the end (above Cuba I believe is where it was). And remember, Jack was almost tempted to stab the heart of Davy Jones to become immortal, so the Fountain obvious is an attraction to him.
---The King of England. He is mentioned in DMC some, and also in AWE. And as said, the Armada retreated due to fear of the Flying Dutchman and having no General, I assume. The King may want revenge of sorts.
***END OF SPOILERS***
The first one is a biggie, imo.

I say... right around 5-7 years.
But I agree with corpse. They'll definitely go for the first plot she listed It would be AMAZING

As for how many years...
3 years. Same time frame between Pirates 1 and 2.

I think they could do another one. I don't see Will and Elizabeth being in it. I think their story is finished and we don't need them any more for more movies. Concentrate on Jack, Babarossa and new characters could work. I still wait a few years though. They need to find a way also to keep the budget down. If they make another one now the thing could get close to 400 million.

I doubt Verbinski would come back. I doubt Depp would come back too.

I heard he said he might be interested, but if he said no I think that would kill any sequel. I can't see them focusing a movie around Barbarossa, regardless of how cool of a character he is.

Depp WILL be back. He could probably do 1 Pirates movie every 3-4 years for 10-15 years
He loves the character

Depp said he would play Jack Sparrow again if they had a good script. And Verbinski said he would too if they had a story worth telling. He mentioned something about the Indiana Jones movies, but I foget what he said. Bloom said he was finished (take that as you will). No idea about Kiera.
I think they have plenty of room to work with in the plot idea I mentioned above (DONT EVEN BOTHER TO SCROLL UP IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THIS MOVIE AND WANT TOO!!). I don't know the mythology, or at least EVERYTHING, about THAT something I mentioned, but I'm sure something can be worked out. If they go through with another movie in the future.

Orlando's done, Keira's thinking of retiring for a bit.
Rumors are saying Verbinski might not be back for a 4th. Bruckheimer's on board 100%, and Depp's on board as long as Ted & Terry come back to write. If they're doing the writing, Depp's said he'll do as many Pirates movies as they want to make, even if it's 9 or 10.
I definitely think the FoY is a good plot starter for a 4th. And maybe we'd actually get to see New Orleans!

Without Will and Elizabeth, don't people think it'll be kinda borring with jus Jack and Barbossa again.....
I read in an interview that Geoffrey Rush doesn't think he'll be back for a fourth because there isn't much left for the character.......

I'd say 3 years for a Pirates 4 and 5 and 6 the year after the next.

Personally, I think a straight-forward Pirate film with Jack, Barbossa snf the Pirate crew would be awesome. No more Will/Elizabeth-like couples, no epic war-film battles (As fun as that was), no complicated pirates mythology, just a stand-alone treasure hunt of sorts that the end of Pirates 3 eludes to. I think people would be willing to watch that.

they would have to inttroduce new characters to replace Will and Elizabeth. I would love to see Barbossa again, he ruled in this movie.
