Great point but maybe instead of up to, it should be except for.

Anyway, I am still holding out hope for Hide & Seek.

Hostage - l think l remember being interested in this
D.E.B.S. - probably'll suck, but l'll chack it out...maybe
Because of Winn-Dixie - there has been a giant cardboard thing for this movie in a theater here for like.....3 years...ok, thats an exaggeration...but anyways, it sounds kinda boring, but l might see it
The Interpreter - could be good
The Jacket - l'll see it
Robots - maybe
A Sound of Thunder - sounds kinda cool
Kung Fu Hustle - probably see it

Just optimism I suppose, but I figure Elektra will snag the 14th and 21st of January, but after that, I got no idea what will do good until The Ring 2. I doubt Son of the Mask will enjoy a weekend as Number 1.

January 7:

- White Noise - very intriguing and well-designed trailer, i might check it out

January 14:

- Coach Carter - i hate these type of sports movie but this one actually looks semi-decent due to Samuel L. Jackson
- Elektra - haven't seen any trailers but hope it's better than Daredevil

January 28:

- Hide and Seek - looks pretty good

February 4:

- Boogeyman - looks horrible
- The Wedding Date - I think I may have seen a trailer for this, but not sure, but if I did it wasn't anything memorable

February 11:

- Hitch - another $100 million hit for Will Smith
- Pooh's Heffalump Movie - looks like the most interesting Pooh movie since the original...a movie about Heffalump is a really good idea

February 18:

- Because of Winn-Dixie - the first part of the trailer seemed like a really interesting movie, until it became a "girl-meets-dog" movie
- Constantine - really awesome teaser a while back, can't wait to see any new trailers
- The Interpreter - haven't seen any trailers for this movie, but Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn together? I'm there.
- The Son of the Mask - not interested but it should make a decent profit

February 25:

- Cursed -Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson's comeback flickc seems interesting

March 4:

- Be Cool - Get Shorty was great, just hope this isn't another The Whole Ten Yards

March 11:

- The Jacket - Adrien Brody + Keira Knightly=I'm there.
- Robots - the first horrible looking CGI film, but not the only one if Chicken Little and Cars has anything to say about it
- A Sound of Thunder - saw the trailer a long time ago, thought it was kind of interesting but had forgotten about it until i just read the premise on imdb

March 18:

- Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Dangerous
- The Ring Two - loved The Ring so want to see this, except i really disliked Ringu so i don't have faith in the director

March 25:

- Guess Who - looks like a $100 million hit, although there were suprisingly few bits of humor in the trailer

Miss Congeniality should aim for mid-February, or April.

The Ring Two is the only movie I really know about out of this batch of movies, and the rest look pretty uninteresting anyway.

THEREFORE this shall be the time in which I catch up on the limited releases and Oscar contenders from 2K4.

Constantine is the only one I'll watch in the theaters, the rest I might/might not see on DVDs...

I'm guessing that either Phantom of the Opera, Meet the Fockers or Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events will rule until Elektra is released.

Beyond Elektra, I can't even think what would be the tops at the box office until Ring Two. New Line should have held Blade Trinity until February and ruled the box office.

March was a lot more interesting before they moved Cindarella Man to the (better Oscar slot but) insane as ever summer.

As far smaller, quality movies, February sees the release of the Sydney Pollack film The Interpreter. It has a great chance of being the best reviewed film of the early year... with Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn. Imaginary Heroes could be really great as well.

March sees The Ballad of Jack and Rose which should be great. And Steamboy should be a pretty big deal in the animation deparatment.

So my thoughts are, if you live outside New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Seattle, Austin... or any of the other big movie towns, your opitions for great cinema might be limited until probably... Sin City on April 1st? (Or Ring Two, maybe).
