That is a standard increase. It is good, no doubt, but it is not massive enough to get it any more than about 45 mill for the weekend.

KING KONG did really good! It should have a nice increase today and I know it will have great word of mouth throughout the holiday season. I still have no doubt in my mind that it will cross 200 Million domestically.

Not too bad although it will come under 50 million this weekend and wont have the record breaking openings as people said it will. Can we no0w say we move to "Plan C" since it did not have the Shrek 2 multiplier people wanted it to have. Its in par with what I predicted it would have yesterday

I can see a 10% increase for Saturday and perhaps a 30% decline for Sunday...that would be
14.3
15.7
11.5
41-42 mill

Just what I predicted for Friday. Solid number.
Rather harsh drop for Narnia. What was that about it overtaking King Kong this weekend? Oh, yeah, it's not going to.
Solid for The Family Stone, which should end up with $12-13M this weekend.

It´s out from wednesday, I think the saturday increase should be a bit bigger.
Maybe $45-48M?

What does that mean? You concede that it will not get a Shrek 2 increase?

It'll make $45 million this weekend.
Baumer, the multiplier you're giving for Kong (2.90x) is less than even Blade: Trinity when it was released 5-Day last year. I find that impossible. Kong's obviously showing a backloaded pattern so I don't know how it'll make less than $44 million this weekend.

If true, that is EXCELLENT for Kong. It like tripled the Friday increases for the LotR movies.

no. i always said it'll pull a shrek. and it did. i never ever claimed that the multipliers or anything were going to be the same. Most films released on wednesday to massive hype or big expectations have a smaller friday than their wednesday. Shrek 2 went up significantly on its wednesday number. This film did the same. to solidify my claim, expect kong to increase over its friday numbers tomorrow.
like i said, i rest my case.

Sure, it might do about 45 mill.

While the numbers arent too bad, people here have been saying for us to wait till friday before taking our jabs at Kong. Well the friday is alright but not blockbuster impressive like those Shrek2 predicted multipliers. Now can I repeat if we should move to Plan C yet?

I'm relieved Kong had a big increase, because it did shitty at my theater. Let's hope it can sprout some good legs from here on out, or Narnia will win

250% for Shrek2
70% for Batman Begins
132% for Kong yet its weekend will be below Batman
Thats hardly Shrek 2 but more like Shrekman Begins
Can we move to plan C please?

I think it was just unrealistic from all of us here epecting and uber big weekend. The opening 5 day gross will be on the low side sure - but its a strong gross for December regardless. Just saw the film tonight and its very good - it should hold up well.

I opt for Plan J.
Kong's increase is wonderful given its performance in the last two days. People knew it was a Wednesday release all along, thus this Friday number is definitely buoyed by WOM.
