Brokeback for $100 million!
Doea anybody knows of any sell outs for Geisha? Coming both on the same weekend, both awards-bound, both limited... they are ready to be compared.

Yeah, I'm monitoring, and the last time I checked (a couple of hours ago), no sell-out yet for Geisha.

NO SPOILERS
Narnia: LWW at 10:40am
Basically thought I'd report on this despite my non-US geographical position and subsequent irrelevance as a factor for estimating Friday numbers , simply because my screening turned out to be 75% bought-out by the local intermediate school (12-13 year olds) and could be seen as an early indication of what the younger crowd think of it.
The reaction I gathered was mixed - a lot of them seemed into it in parts; some gasps when a wolf would suddenly appear and some laughs at the right places and for the first time in my life I actually witnessed some (like a dozen people out of many) clapping at the end but take that with a grain of salt - their excitability at watching the film instead of going to class meant they also appluaded the START of the thing and also during the POTC2 trailer so it's not really a good comparison to say this makes it better than anything I've ever been to based solely on that I say mixed because the actual comments I heard were less than favourable on the whole when leaving, worst being that it was "shit" (some guys discussing it in the bathroom while I was washing my hands) and the best mostly being written on some smiling faces. The "older" people, including myself, groaned at a few things.
Personally I gave it a C+. Worth watching once, probably on the big-screen despite the grade just for the visuals in parts and the battle at the end. Posted a longer review with some spoilers in the Critic forum but anyone who's read the book probably won't learn anything new from seeing those spoilers (I can't be sure if anything's different - haven't read the book myself).

That wink had better mean you're sarcastic since the film will be lucky to cross 30 million.

Or what? You would shoot me with a cowboy gun?
Yeah, I was joking. On the other hand, I really do think this film doesn´t need to be THAT lucky to cross $30M... and It could even reach $50M. It could happen.

That is good. Being in more theatres that "Brokeback", It was bound to take more time before the first sell-outs.
Still, the average should be great, in the 50-70K range

I somehow doubt that it's playing in the IMAX theatre.

Have a friend in Speech class who took her kids to see Narnia at midnight at the Independence AMC 20.
She reported that it wasn't sold out due to the weather (we just got nearly a foot of snow here in the Kansas City area, and many of the residential streets are *still* under ice), but that there weren't too many empty seats.
She said it was awesome and was recommending it to everyone in our class. I'd gauge her reaction as a solid A.
She also confirmed for me that the Pirates of the Caribbean trailer was attached, so that's cool.
I'm going to be seeing it either tonight or tomorrow... I can't wait!

I certainly do not miss that aspect of Kansas City.
