I'm pretty sure it'll make 300 million. Maybe not dramatically more than that (I don't think it'll reach 400) but it'll definately make 300 million. I don't see how it wouldn't. I was worried about reception, but all the reviews coming in seem to love it.

I think if it doesn't cross $200m people will see it as a disappointment, which is still ludicrious, but at this point Pj is like Spielberg, people have high expecations. Remember Minority Report, a disappointment even though it crossed $100m. I think global intake is a better judge, maybe KK does less business here the LOTR, but maybe it does better overseas.
Actually, considering that it cost over 200 million to make, anything under 200 would be atrocious, and anything under 250 wouldn't even be breaking even. That would be a dissappointment.
Global intake is an interesting idea though. I think Kong will be far more successful than LotR overseas, so it would definately help. But I remember someone said studios see about half the total cume, so when push comes to shove, KK needs to make 500 million worldwide to even break even. Anytime a movie doesn't break even, its certainly a dissappointment.

Especially when Narnia is (as a competitor) doing under 200 total.

WHY DO YOU HATE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH?!!
Your bias against this film shows in bright colors with your ridiculously biased predictions.

Let me state this clearly...... KONG WILL NOT MAKE OR GET NEAR 300 MILLION DOMESTIC
Certainly people who see the trailer are getting gaga over it but maybe they aren't aware this film is 3hrs long and WILL drag and Be boring in spots and have scenes that go on too long and some that should have been cut altogether. KK will probably have a very profitable first week but when the avg moviegoer starts hearing about the length and etc etc people will get turned off. This movie is only worth seeing once and the "hollywood insider's" quote about grown men crying is Laughable as well. This is a limited tear jerker even though the scenes with Naomi and KK do jump off the screen there are too many side elements that get in the way for plot movement of course but some just are overdone to the Nth degree.
They said LOTR would suffer due to its long-running time too
clearly we have a troll

Everybody complained about RotK's 20-minute ending, even the extremely positive critics. Look where the film is at now.
If the film is overall very enjoyable and has some magnificent parts, some unnecessary scenes and a 3-hour length won't bother it in any way.

......And I can tell you this is No LOTR TTT ROTK none of that. As for calling me a troll, blah blah, I'm just pointing out that these 300 million predictions are just not going to happen. The last 30 minutes are so anti climactic that it's just a sequence of events that are going through the motions to get to the ending of the film, seriously. I don't want to rain on KK's parade, I was as hyped up as ne1 to see the film after hearing about some fantastic reviews and reading a thread about KK at oscarwatch.com where one of the posters was so caught up in the film that they said they cried 3 freaking times. After reading that and other comments of course I was super excited to see KK which.......I've written my comments and grade on it already......so in the end, I'll just say don't get your bar set so high that a pin pops your balloon after you've finished watching the film.

Um I'm going to say no to 300 million also. I see a Hulk type box office run inflated with Christmas and New Year's legs.
85 5-day/280 total
This is SOOOO not Titanic. I mean, Titanic is based on real events, and Kong, well you know it's "out there". You can have fun with these kind of movies, but I seriously doubt this is going to come close to Jurassic Park, no matter how good it is. Juuust my opinion

I doubt it will make $200 Million, but that's just based on my opinion which sucks and is based on my own personal view on the movie (which is not great)

A few weeks ago I wasnt a believer but this has so much going for it that $300m is looking very good:
Here are reasons it will make $300m
1. Great Reviews
2. Trailers look great
3. Alot of hype
4. Action, Romance, epic adventure all rolled into one
5. Directed by Peter Jackson
6. Awards and Oscars will only help its longetivity
7. WOM should be strong
8. Its good uber weekday grosses coming up with Christmas and New Year
9. Appeals to adults and kids
10. Solid marketing
11. King Kong is iconic
12. Has a bit of an inbuilt fanbase
and so on...
