:hahaha:

I woke my poor butt up once on a Saturday morning at 10 (it's my one day to sleep in) to see a movie up the street for matinee price (Its a big theatre. I forget AMC or Loews, but one of those two). When I found out it was still full price I almost hauled myself back to bed out of sheer rebellion. It was still 10.75. I downgraded to 10 for an average assuming while tickets here were 10.75, in other place they would be 9.25. I know in Boston they're not 9 anymore either. Though in fairness, the AMC there still give matinee and discount at 7.50. Anyways, i guess ten is too high and I need to start assuming an average price is what. 8?

Damn, I need to move if I'm going to keep up my movie

Portland is going our way. I've heard the northwest coast is starting to rival the northeast coast as far as cost of living. Yikes! I'm moving to Canada.

Around Cincinnati, at most places it is $8 for evenings, $6 for daytime, Students and Seniors get a discount, and on Tuesday, all the Showcase Cinemas are $5 all day.

I think its the worst in NYC and LA.

I live in LA and the lowest price is $10.(AMC) for adults. The highest I've seen is $14 at Arclight(the best theatre ever IMO).

I agree. It took me quite some time as well to come up with the numbers.

Question... does anyone know what the usual or average multiplier is for this weekend? Like, from the Wednesday number to the 3-day weekend or the Wednesday number to the 5-day weekend?

It depends the kind of movies, as family films will jump a lot on Thanksgiving Thursday but others may not. The weekend multiplier will be quite poor as films experience either minimal increase or 10-15% drop on Saturday.

Actually, Friday inflates the gross, especially for family movies. The Friday gross usually exceeds last Friday's take for holdovers.

Harry Potter - 63
Walk the Line - 17 (dunno how much competition could hurt it, could top 20)
Yours, Mine and Ours - 16 (could do as well as Kranks, but I doubt it with Harry)
Chicken Little - 15 (might even have a better increase)
Rent - 14 (could do 5 million better than this, but I'm thinking it's frontloaded, like Phantom)
Just Friends - 10 (think it's a safe number)
Pride and Prejudice - 8 (again, safe number, could top 10)
Derailed - 4.5 (probably too low, but I'm worried about the competition)
In the Mix - 4 (could do double this, but I'm feeling a bad vibe for an urban-type movie)
The Ice Harvest - 3.5 (again, bad vibe, bad crowd reports)

I tried to be safe with most of the movies, so it's either gonna pay off, or I underestimated too many. We'll see. HP's prediction seems good to me, I'm counting on the longer running time actually offsetting the frontloading, but maybe my fanboyness is clouding my judgement

Actually, it's a day we American refer to as "Black Friday."
