SPONGEBOB: $58M+ Opening - Count On It!
I've never seen this show (couldn't care less), but holy hell this kid is popular!
And not just among children, oh no, teens and college students are obsessed with this thing.
I'm pretty sure this will give Paramount its biggest hit since M:I 2. Expect big things from this. I think one of the biggest opening of all time is in store here.
Edit: unofficially, Im expecting $60m, but I dont want that 6 before the 0

I'm one of the higher predictors for this movie, but I don't think it'll make more than $50 million.

What'd be the point of conservative predictions
The more daring the better. I actually think it has a shot at it.

You underestimate the power of Spongebob.
Opening: $200.0
Total: $800.0 (Due to Holiday legs)

Crap, totally forgot about the holidays.
I see the headlines now: Spongebob soaks up iceberg of Titanic.

Because you said that, this movie will be a sure hit.
Seriously though, it will be pretty big. Bigger than The Polar Express (which you predicted $40-50 for?)

It will either be huge, like 45-50m or a miserable flop of 20m. Or, how about a number between 1 and 10000000000000000?

Yes! Someone agrees with me! I'm thinking a 70 million weekend myself, but I will probably go a little lower than that for the games.

If theres one thing SPongebob wont be, its a bomb.
With the most amazing teaser and hilarious trailer (david H was da bomb and the laughing next to us part), this one will be on a role.
Spongebob is one of the more creative, intelligent and actually funny cartoons out there. and yes, it is beloved. Dobut it will get a 50 million opening but I expect it to do well.

2004 needs this to pass $100M eventually...so i'm hoping for over $30M.
2004 only has 17 movies passed $100M (incl Grudge)
Spongebob is in with a chance.
Alexander, Christmas With Kranks, Oceans 12 and Meet The Parents have the best chances at passing it. Polar Express does too.
So at best, 2004 will have 23 Movies passed $100M. 6 less than last year.

My confidence is waning in this film. I'm expecting no more than $25 million.

I think this and The Polar Express are key examples of why predictions are so off sometimes at this site. The Polar Express's director is a very popular one among the people of this site or BOM, so people expected big numbers out of it, even though kids don't know the first thing about the director, nor do they care. Spongebob, on the other hand, is not popular on this site, due to the dominance of older teens, young adults, etc. This one is being really underpredicted. $30 million is a lock.

wow this movie is really hard to predict. I mean anything can happen. I won't be suprised if it makes 63 million dollars nor I won suprised if it will make 23 million dollars on opening weekend. It'll have good word of mouth but who knows how much it can make this weekend.

I saw a commercial for the film on Comedy Central featuring two cute young women in skimpy clothes talking about Spongebob. One made a "dress" out of sponges to wear to the movie. Eventually, scenes from the movie were shown.
Interesting ad campaign, this movie may have broad appeal.

Spongebob rules!
The show is popular from age 3 and up - everyone is going to be out to see this one with their kids this weekend.
$50+ easy.

damn skippy it will. I'm expecting a $20M opening day but a little more frontloaded than The Incredibles. My prediction is $64.3M over the 3 days, to $215M total. It's going to fall really hard on the post-Thanksgiving weekend.

Opening 32m
Close: 83m
This movie looks horrible and I think the spongebob fad went out around 2 years ago.
