I guess it's good for the box office, but I wish something other than Chicken Little had been the film to break out to that kind of opening. The Longest Yard and Mr. and Mrs. Smith seem to be the only films to open to over 40 million this year that didn't need really have kid appeal.

Weird weekend.

Flightplan's hold reminds me of Ladder 49's hold on exactly the same weekend last year. It also fell only 18%.

Chicken Little should end up under $40 million for the weekend, I suppose.

I could of sworn that when I saw the Longest Yard, I barely remember that many people above the age of 30 seeing it and even its 20-something bracket there was too small . There were quite alot of teens there since Sandler's who schtick is acting retarded

Based on esitmates, I'm also very impressed. I like horror films being successful at the box office, quality put aside of course.

It needed to never be made. Ughhh....it was awful, and it's legs are just unexplainable. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang won't make 10 million, and Flightplan will make around 90 million, and people wonder why studios don't care if they churn out the shit movies.

Like everyone else, I get all giddy when people toss around the 100m number for movies, but let's be honest - is Saw II really going to hold on that well through the rest of crowded *November*? No.

....I'll be taking back that Saw II comment. I thought the numbers said 50m, not 60m.... I'd like to be put in the *cautiously optimistic* boat now.

THe first time in a while I nail the new openers, sadly I did terrible on holdovers.

Actually looking at the numbers in more detail, because W&G will finish outside the Top 10, SAW 2 will have the worst drop. That's bad.
