Anybody wanna make some projections for the weekend? I suck at them, but here's a stab...
Wallace and Gromit - 14
Flightplan - 10
In Her Shoes - 9.5
Two for the Money - 9
The Gospel - 7.7
Waiting - 6
Corpse Bride - 6
History of Violence - 5
Serenity - 4.9
Into the Blue - 4.8
Greatest Game - 3.6
Just Like Heaven - 3.3

lol, I forget who it was, but someone was saying that A History of Violence would increase more than Serenity, that did not happen.

Yep, In Her Shoes was definitely viewed as nothing more than a chick flick.

I could see a HUGE Saturday increase for In Her Shoes, something in the 70% range, maybe 30% for Two for the Money, and a 15 to 25% increase for Waiting. Wallace and Gromit is more unpredictable, because we don't know how hardcore the fanbase is, so it could be anywhere from 20% to 60% increase I think. Of course, I think the Sunday holds are gonna be the real deciding factor this weekend

W&G have a fanbase anyway I think somewhere within 50%-80% would be the ideal increase. I like your 30%-70% projection for IHS as well

Yeah BJ, it's not like a Serenity fanbase, but W&G is based on a TV show, so it may have a Hitchhiker type fanbase, but who knows, families might pour in on SAT/SUN for this movie so it doesn't matter

Wallace and Gromit will have excellent word of mouth, yesterday was a school day so less kids could see the movie opening day. This will have a great weekend multiplier.

But according to Entertainment Weekly and IGN (Interview: Ryan Reynolds & Rob McKittrick), " Waiting" budget is $3 million

Solid for Flightplan. It will be at $60m after tomorrow. Last year's The Forgotten made 2.42x its third weekend after its third weekend, so if Flightplan makes $9.9m this weekend (my projection), it would finish with a solid $83m with The Forgotten's multiplier. Wow - leggier than Panic Room, despite worse reviews?

Here are SBD's numbers as well...
WALLACE & GROMIT MOVIE: CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT, THE 4.2 4.2
FLIGHTPLAN 3.1 53.7
IN HER SHOES 3.0 3.0
TWO FOR THE MONEY 3.0 3.0
GOSPEL, THE 2.6 2.6
WAITING 2.1 2.1
CORPSE BRIDE, THE 1.7 37.6
SERENITY 1.6 14.3
INTO THE BLUE 1.5 10.7
HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, A 1.5 12.8
All three sources awfully close. They must be all wrong.

Wallace and Gromit isn't based on a TV show. The movie is based on characters in three animated shorts. Rent The Wrong Trousers.

oh, my bad, thanks for the correction. I just assumed it was because i had some excited fans buying tickets from me. They must've seen those shorts.

I was hoping for a smaller drop for Serenity.
Yeah, i know, i know, fanbase and all, but for a genre movie it had amazing reviews, so...

Great for A History of Violence, Flightplan, and The Gospel. Not bad for Waiting as well.
Everything else? Bleh.

In Her Shoes looks like it's a victim of the same thing that happened to Fever Pitch, where it will end up with $2-3M less than it could have because Fox held too many sneak previews.
Let's hope for good legs, because this movie really deserves better.

Very good for The Gospel, bleh for pretty much everything else (even though Wallace and Gromit and In Her Shoes might have nice Saturday increases).
Nice holds for Flightplan and A History of Violence.

Why is everyone saying In Her Shoes could have a great Saturday increase? Chick flicks have always been more of a Friday movie that anything else, at least during the summer. The most I see it rising is 40%, but I expect around 28%.

Because the chick flicks that are usually Friday movies more than anything else are usually date movies, which this is most likely not turning out to be (it's looking like it's appealing almost exclusively to adult women).

Yeah, but it's pretty clear that Mike is biased against this movie, one of his friends must have told him that it's homophobic.
Anyways, I'm happy with the numbers. I could get 95%+ on Wallace and Gromit, and I told you all that Waiting wasn't going to be DOA, but rather be a good little hit around 6-7 million. Oh yeah, and then of course there's In Her Shoes...
