Table provided by Zingaling.

The holdovers continue to drop hard. Very good hold for The Constant Gardener, on par with Vanity Fair's Thursday drop.

That's a very big drop for Virgin... :|

The other holdhovers dropped too, but I'm specially surprised with Virgin.. that's a 15% drop or so..

EDIT: well, even Wedding Crashers dropped as big... forget it..

Gas price is still rising, and its effect is in full swing.

With that in mind, that's really good for TCG.

Ouch all around.

I think Virgin is a lock for $100 million now. It should have around $72-73 million after the 4-day weekend, and then after the following weekend, it should stand around $85 million. I think it'll have sub-30% drops all through September, pushing it right past the $100 million mark.

I think a lot of schools went back in session too, that would account for the movies targeted towards kids falling harder. After next week when the last round of schools gets back in things should go back to normal.

Ouch.

Penguins are finally dropping. 35% drops for kids flicks! Virgin and WC didn't even hold that good.

Red Eye having the smallest drop in the top 15 is a good sign for an increase this weekend.

the Katrina effect is evident before the weekend arrives and this dosen't bode well for the predictions.

Trust me, after work yesterday and today. All those kids are rushing to the library to collect their summer reading. Trying to get all the errands done before everything closes for the long weekend. Teens were having break downs left and right when they got in at 5 pm to find out every single one of the books on their summer reading lists were already snatched up by classmates.

Plus, people started hitting the road yesterday and today to travel. This weekend is the last chance for people to do things outside like big bbq's etc as well. This is not going to be a big b.o. weekend.

Ever been 14 and try to cram in 700 pages by tuesday? :hahaha:

Edit** Constant Gardener did just fine though. 15% is a very decent Thursday drop considering it had a Wednesday opener.

Wow; kids these days. And i thought me being in the dungeons and dragons, Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Everquest SECRET SOCIETIES made me a little geeky.

Not geeky. On the contrary. Not one of them tried to read anything on their summer list until three days before all the books are due. ;-)

edit*** When I said already snatched up, I meant, like, yesterday morning. ;-)
