Is Alex Rider the Next Harry Potter?
Alex Rider is a 14 year old reluctant "spy" who is hired by MI6 (the same British Intelligence that Mr. Bond works for). There are 5 or 6 books in the best selling series that are being planned for movies, and Stormbreaker is the first, due for release next year. It's got a very interesting cast, which reminds me of how Harry Potter was cast, with unknowns surrounded by screen vets. Ewan McGregor, Mickey Rourke, Alicia Silverstone, and Gollum himself, Andy Serkis, are in the soon to debut movie franchise. The first film is being directed by Geoffrey Sax, who last directed White Noise.

What do you guys think, does this have potential to go over big?

Yeah. The difference between this and Harry Potter: This isn't Harry Potter. Harry Potter is a household phenomenom. What is this, some british spy books? Please. I've never heard of it.

Yikes, the director of White Noise attempts at another go at a movie. Run away.

I feel kind-of sorry for Ewan McGregor.

You'd run from a movie starring Alicia Silverstone and tell others to do the same? I haven't seen White Noise, I've only heard BKB singing it's praises.

I like Alicia Silverstone but she won't be able to do anything as a sophisticated CIA-like operater or whatever she'll play. Shes much better being hip or having attitude somewhat. Miss Match cancelled tv show, Scooby-Doo 2, Beauty Shop, Alex Rider...Aliciaaaaaaa what are you doing?

White Noise was the silliest movie I've seen in years.

I don't know, the girl is talented, so we'll see. She needs to expand her horizons, and can't play the same types of characters all of her career.

Too bad for Michael Keaton, who's an actor that I'd like to see working more often than he does.

You are the silliest movie I've seen in years.
Although, I do agree about White Noise.

The closest thing we all have to "the next Harry Potter" is Artemis Fowl, and that's a far cry from the popularity of the former.

If you mean "third of its success at most" as the "next Harry Potter", then yes.
Narnia could become one although I know what you mean. I am just talking about the fantasy genre as a whole.
I have never heard of that series either and I don't see it even making $100 million.

When I was in middle school, I read the book and became addicted to the whole trilogy.
I loved the book, and if ads seem as if they did the book justice, ill first in line to see it.

I have never heard of this series. It is big in the U.S. or just in the U.K. I would say Spy Kids numbers if popular in U.S. and Johnny English to Agent Cody Banks numbers if not.
