Xmas Weekend 05.
Who will be the highest new entry over the christmas weekend??
Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (on Wed.)
(Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Hilary Duff)
Fun with Dick and Jane (on Wed.)
(Jim Carrey,Tea Leoni, Alec Baldwin)
Hoodwinked (on Sun.)
(Computer Animation from Weinstein Company)
The Producers: The Movie Musical (on Wed.)
(Matthew Broderick, Uma Thurman,Will Ferrell and Nathan Lane)
The Ringer
(Johnny Knoxville, Brian Cox, Katherin Heigl)
Rumor Has It (on Sun.)
(Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Costner, Mena Suvari)
KONG will probably still be number 1....
But who will be the highest new entry?
IMO, some of them have to move... (RINGER and HOODWINKED don't stand a chance.)

Fun with Dick and Jane, easily.
King Kong might win that weekend, though, unless Fun with Dick and Jane is the next Bruce Almighty.

Even if Fun With Dick & Jane grosses over $200m, I don't think it'll have an opening over $40m, so the potential for Kong to repeat is def. there.

Ha, The Ringer is FINALLY getting released?
Probably is going to be a close weekend. Nothing is going to stand out. Everything will do okay.

I really could see Rumor Has It surprising. The cast and director are both top-notch, and this is the type of movie that usually succeeds around the holidays.

Jeez, talk about over-crowded.
Rumor Has It might have to move - it can't really stand up in the face of Dick and Jane, and I'd hate to see it crushed.
Cheaper by the Dozen is going to perform like Kranks, maybe slightly better. I'm not expecting much, anyway.
The rest don't stand a chance, either

I assume The Ringer will likely get moved again.

Gotta fill you in on this one. Ok, it has Jim Carrey in it. Nuff said. I don't think that was enough explanation. Ok, it stars Carrey and Tea Leoni who act as thieves since they can't pay their bills. I think.

Fun With Dick and Jane, though Kong will take the weekend in a repeat.
Rumor I want to see move to a better spot it has huge potential. But they want it in for Oscar season. Maybe move it up?

Depends on how wide the release will be. I doubt they'll open it in over 2,000 theatres right away.
Also, Rumor Has It is fine in its position. I mean it opens on Sunday and Fun with Dick and Jane opens on Wednesday. Enough time between them considering the season they are being released in. In this season movies can coexist well.
Fun with Dick and Jane might take the weekend. It'll be close between it and King Kong. If King Kong opens to over $60 million (3-day), then it'll take the weekend, if it doesn't then it won't.
Rumor Has It should make a good $8-10 million on Sunday, I figure.
The Ringer and Hoodwinked (?) won't register. The Ringer will open below $5 million. Hoodwinked will be the next Valiant or get moved.
The Producers might go Chicago's route and go limited first. If not...well, that wouldn't be smart.
Cheaper by the Dozen 2 will probably make around $20-25 million over five days and stumble to $70-80 million.

That'll be quite a short run for a kids film opening on Christmas weekend...

CBTD2 and FWD&J smell like pretty big openers. KONG will still be packing them in, presumably.
The Producers is gonna get steamrolled. I'm betting they open fairly wide. It's a known commodity.
I'm not really sure where Rumor Has It fits into this equation. I agree with everyone who said it's in the movie's best interest to run screaming from that release date.

Well, it will not have the entire December for itself and I did say $20-25 million in five days which means under $20 million over the weekend. That would be decent legs in my opinion, for a movie that will most likely have no anticipation at all and horrible WoM.

Why do you think it'll bad 'horrible' WOM?
It's a kids movie. The first one did suck, yes, but not to kids. It was a family pleaser, so it should be well, and I doubt the WOM will be terrible.

But virtually no one knows it's coming out. By the time it's in theatres, Harry Potter and Narnia will be still out there, as much better alternatives and even King Kong should appeal to kids somewhat with its adventure feel.

Christmas is still months away, and the awareness isn't totally bad right now. Cheaper 1 is well-known, Carmen Electra and Eugune Levy should add to it.

Oh yes, I can see all the 8-10 year olds flocking to theatres to see Carmen Electra.

But thats not what she brings, she brings some older men and some 12 year old boys. Not much but a little bit. The movie is well known enough, if the 8-10 year olds like Cheaper 1 they'll like this.

Carmen Elektra being in this film will add about $100 dollars to the film's box-office performance.
In other words, no one cares.
She will not bring anyone in. The first one was popular, whether we think it was crappy or not, and that's what will bring people back for the sequel; not an incredibly hot pornstar. The marketing has to start soon, though, if Fox wants something big out of this one.
