I think it it'll get buzz and go for longer than expected, buzz for Kirsten maybe for best actress etc. I see 20.5/121

Tough one. It had a good response with War of the Worlds (both of the times I saw it), so it might do well.
Around $60 million total, I suppose.

How wide is this even going? If it takes the Garden State route ( it already looks like a rip off of Garden State ) with a limited relase then wide around 700-800 theaters, then it isnt making more then 20m. If it's going straight to wide with 2000+ it can do around 30m-40m if interest is there and it has some type of marketing.

It completly depends on how the reviews for it are, and how Kirstens performance is taken it, as well as how much gg/oscar buzz it gets. The director is academy loved so who knows, it certainly can get some noms. If Dunst is talented enough in it to be nominated for best actress it'll get upwards of 81 million at least, right up to my 125 million or higher. If they trash it it'll get lucky to get 35 million total I agree.

I don't really think this sort of romantic drama has much potential. The trailer looks dull, and I don't see how they will market it successfully.

This was filmed within 20 minutes of where I live, so I'm really excited for it.
It should do really well, since it has lots of Oscar buzz plus mainstream potential.

Love Crowe, love the stars, love the premise, but I'm not convinced of its ability to bring in an audience. Early release makes its potential (financially and Oscar-wise) kinda small.

I think that this film could do anything from 10-125m. So I have no Idea yet.

hmm..if its released somewhere in the 2000+ theater range it should do with moderate reviews:
Opening: 13 million
Total: 65 Million
2000+ w/ ''oscar hype'' reviews
Opening: 17 Million
Total: 80 Million
2000+ w/ trashy reviews
Opening: 8 million
Total: 25 million
If it goes limited, and gets moderate reviews:
Total: 40 million
limited w/ "oscar hype" reviews
Total: 105 million
limited w/ trashy reviews
Total: 18 million

Limited with oscar talk higher gross than wide with oscar talk? Actually maybe, it does kind of make sense, if it frontloads with lots of advertising it probably won't do as well as if it stays 1000+ theatres making here and there and having a lengthy run similar to Aviator. But thats a risk, if they decide to try not much advertising rather go for lenghty WOM legs hit, trashy reviews would totally backfire on it making it like 5 mil total probably. So yeah I would decide it on what quality the movie has.

This looks like Garden State 2, only starring Orlando Bloom (which means it will be worse). Bloom is not quite a huge pull, I think and neither is Dunst. Opening the movie in 2,500+ theatres is not a good idea, but then again the reviews seem not too kind, so a slow expanding pattern wouldn't benefit it either.
Opening weekend - $12 million
Total gross - $41 million
