I blame Schumacher, but I definitely do not have any love for Batman Returns. It was a wasted opportunity, and a big letdown after the greatness of the first film.

Tim Burton also directed the sequel; Joel Schumacher didn't step in until the third movie.

haha... I know the history of Schumacher's destruction all too well, and know he didn't direct the second. I was just explaining to baumer that I still blamed Schumacher, even though the second film (directed by Burton) wasn't very good either.

Just for the record I AM A WOMAN!!!!
I was mad the day I registered here because I was trying to get on here and at OscarWatch and kept getting rejected. A woman can only take so much rejection. I had to keep coming up with names and ran out of good ones. The thing I wonder is, why do people assume I'm a guy? Are only guys interested in box office stuff? No...I should have called myself Wander Woman.
OK, what I meant about the drops for WC drops on weekdays is that percentage-wise they were more in line with other movies, but because it was having such extraordinary weekends, with much lower drops than Charlie, it jumped up ahead. Now I don't expect its weekends to continue as they have, because of the upcoming competition. Nothing bad, just more "normal," that's all. So no, I don't think it's going to continue to have 20% drops for the rest of its run, and I don't think it's going to end up with more than Charlie. But I could be wrong. I have been, once or twice in my life.

I'm not an Oscar fan. I joined there because I wanted to join a forum where people were talking about box office numbers, and BOM was just too nasty. I didn't know about this place till I was lurking in Oscarwatch and saw the link to this site. I'm MyNameHere over there. That's confusing.

MyNameHere. Here I thought that name was exclusive to somebody else I know. You wouldn't have been able to use it here or at BOM. If you don't like your current name, you can PM bABA or Eagle and they'll change it for ya.

You mean there was already a MyNameHere over here? I don't think I even tried to use it, because actually I had a much harder time getting registered at OscarWatch, and that name was my last resort. And I thought I was being so clever and original But thinking of a new name is too much work. I'll just stick with this for now.

I actually liked batman returns as well. Sure it wasn't as good as the first but it was still a good watch! I'm just as shocked as you with all the Batman Returns hatred.

A girl I dated used to say Batman Returns was Vile and Evil. I'm not sure about evil, Batman Returns was vile alright. That movie was garbage at its stinkiest.
Barf-inducing at its very best.

I know baumer wrote a review on Batman Returns and he was right on the money about everything, it was a pretty pathetic movie, not even good as a popcorn flick.

The main problem with BATMAN RETURNS is that the portrayal of The Penguin was nothing like the comics and it was basically Burton's vision of how The Penguin should've looked, plus the movie was too dark which is probably the reason why the few around here like it cause of it's dark, moody depressing and Gothic look.. Gotham City did look good though and a shame Nolan didn't make Gotham like that in BATMAN BEGINS.. Instead, he made Gotham like any other city.. The only saving grace of the whole movie was Michelle Pfeiffer and Christopher Walken who had some good dialouge to chew on, especially when he threw Salina Kyle out of that window and she turned around and came back and Walken said something like, if she screws with me again, I'll throw her out a higher window, was

Hm, Sky High is doing really well. I suppose a drop of around 35% or even less over the weekend is possible and so is a total gross of $60+ million. The movie also seems to have relatively good reviews and good WoM.
Other than that, March of the Penguins is doing splendidly as many have said and is looking good for a gross of around $7-8 million this weekend, I think.
War of the Worlds is still holding on well and considering it's still in almost 2,000 theatres and considering the rather slow August, it still has a good chance at making $235+ million.
The Devil's Rejects already outdid the original and it's heading towards a total gross of $18+ million, more than doubling its budget. I sense another sequel coming.
Batman Begins will stand at over $198.5 million once the weekend is over, with some luck at $199 million. By the end of the next weekend at latest, it'll break $200 million heading towards a final gross of around $205 million. Great job!

Ah-HA! I *thought* MyNameHere's style of writing seemed familiar! I'm not a member of Oscarwatch, but I did venture over there a few days ago to see about any mentions of Johnny Depp in The Libertine and did quite a bit of reading once I got over there. And I was constantly rooting for MyNameHere's posts.
Now I know why...
Thankfully for myself, I came up with my username years ago and it seems to be fairly unique as I've been able to use it everywhere I go. Unfortunately, due to the fact that apostrophes and commas aren't typically allowed in usernames, I've had some people misunderstand what my username means.... So, I've found myself having to let some people know that I *don't* have Lou Gehrig's disease... *shrugs*
In other news...
I think that CatCF has done far better than anyone had expected, and that's all that matters to me. Seeing as how it is a more kid-oriented film (or at least, was marketed that way) and it had such polarizing reviews amongst professional critics, I'm quite happy with how successful CatCF has been. I never once believed it would end up like PotC or something, so I'm not disappointed in the least. Sure, I'm kinda disappointed that WC is doing so well, but only because I think there are other R-rated comedies that deserved the success a bit more than the cliche and "been there, done that" Wedding Crashers...

Edited: somehow I managed to quote the wrong thread!
Thanks for the kind words Joy! I almost quit posting there recently because the mods were allowing this one group of posters to be rude and insulting to another group (of which I was a member) who were enjoying the Tom Cruise is Batsh*t Insane thread a little too much, apparently. Ironic, since the thread was started by a mod. But I'm glad I stuck it out, because there are some nice people there, some of whom I see posting here too. At the time I joined, I think the box office threads were sort of seen as off-topic, but now they're getting to be quite lively.
