The Dukes of Hazzard - $35 million
The cieling for this one, though, is $40 million. I just can't see anything higher, even with the 3,500+ theater count.

Some. That is why the drop might be 30-35%.

Im more curious on how Deuce Bigelow 2 will affect WC in 2 weeks. If Dukes of Hazzards does a three-peat of a bad weekend, I would say thank god because that movie looks like crap. Unlikely but you never know

Guys, don't forget because there is only one opener, the drops for most holdovers are going to be insanely small.

I'm hoping March of the Penguins could expand enough theaters to enter Top 5.

I see The Dukes getting around $28-34 million for the weekend. With a comedy ruling the box office right now, I say there's room for a new one. This might very well mean good things for Deuce Bigalow 2. Similar numbers to the original, which would be considered a success, since most modest hits that get sequels don't do half as well as the original.

I wouldn't be surprised. With only one opener it would probably only need what, 8+ million? And this is definitely one that's steamrolling. More and more people have been asking me about Penguins lately, and they all actually want to see it (I guess word is it's a great date movie, I guess I'd agree too).

Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo is definitely being released at the right time with raunchy comedies (comedies in general, really) doing so well. It has the potential to surprise.

*****EARLY PREDICTIONS BASED ON THE ESTIMATES*****
1. THE DUKES OF HAZZARD - 38.2 MILLION 2. THE WEDDING CRASHERS - 15.4 MILLION 3. CHARLIE & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY - 10.2 MILLION 4. SKY HIGH - 10.2 MILLION 5. MUST LOVE DOGS - 9.1 MILLION 6. STEALTH - 6.2 MILLION 7. MARCH OF THE PENGUINS - 4.9 MILLION 8. THE FANTASTIC FOUR - 3.9 MILLION 9. WAR OF THE WORLDS - 3.4 MILLION 10. BAD NEWS BEARS - 3 MILLION 11. THE ISLAND - 3 MILLION 12. HUSTLE & FLOW - 2.2 MILLION 13. THE DEVIL'S REJECTS - 1.2 MILLION
PENGUINS is supposed to be in 1,400+ theaters for next weekend. The per-screen average I'm thinking will drop down to $3,500-$4,100. The movie dropped some this weekend without adding many theaters. Next weekend it will obviously increase but I think some will end up over-predicting it. I hope it does great though. Hopefully when the actuals are out it won't have dropped at all and will maybe have increased by 1% or something. That would be nice. If it does I'll probably end up raising my prediction somewhere between 5-5.5 Million.

I would so love to see WC & Charlie beat that stupid DOH movie (has a movie ever had such an appropriate acronym before?). I think it would send a good message to studios that even American audiences are fed up with the crap they fill the theaters with every summer.

How ridiculously weird would it be if people avoided Dukes of Hazzard completely, giving it a Looney Tunes: Back in Action-type opening weekend, and Wedding Crashers took the top spot again? Incredibly slim chance, but I've seen six films in the past two weeks unable to open to over $15 million in their opening weekends.
