Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will make $200 million. The weekdays are too strong for it to not make that. Plus, after this weekend, it's going to be straight sub-40% drops because of the lack of competition.
Wedding Crashers could, indeed, make $150 million.

I don't think REJECTS will do more than 8 Million this weekend either. I had predicted 3.7 Million for Friday and 3.1 Million for Saturday. Since it opened so low it "might" not drop on Saturday. HIGH TENSION increased on its opening weekend Saturday. Maybe this can do the same. I know it wouldn't increase much, but it would be considered great if it could just hold on to 3.1 Million for Saturday.

Below average hold for Charlie considering it is mainly a kids movie. No $200M for this one.
Dont know about that. Isnt its drop better than Madagascar's second week? Also the summer weekdays will help out big time for a kid's movie like it did for Madagascar and that will be very close in the 200 million range
Madagascar made $28.5M after a $47M OW. So the hold was much better for Madagascar. The Best Charlie can hope for is around Madagascar's gross.

Just saw the numbers!!!!
HOLY SHIT at The Island. I saw it yesterday and it was quite good. Sucks to see one of the only actual smart action flicks flop like that.
HORRIBLE weekend because of the openers.
Charlie could have done a bit better but I guess a big Saturday increase is in store to bump the weekend to near $30 million.
Wedding Crashers is doing phenomenal!!!!! It's got $125m in the bag and could go up to $140m

Actually Charlie is tracking ahead of Madagascar right now. If I remember correcty in Madagascars 2nd Friday it grossed $8,095,716. It barley crossed 100 million for the weekend Charlie looks to Cross 100 Million today and at the end of Sunday for all we know it could be at over 110. ANd if the weekdays hold strong I think it could get over 200 million

It is tracking ahead since it opened bigger. But the drops are bigger too.
Madagascar dropped to 8.1M from 13.95M
Charlie dropped to 8.95 from 20.71M and for a kids movie it is below average. The drops for this will be much bigger than Madagascar.

I am truely shocked at how low The Island opened!! I mean this is Michael Bay we are talking about here. The man has never had a movie flop in his career. But...this was his first movie ever without the God of explosions, Jerry Bruckheimer. I think Bay should go back to his mentor for future action movies. Although I don't believe Bruckheimer is on board Transformers for July 4th, 2007.
Anyways, I loved the movie and was hoping for a similar sucess of past Bay films and shed a tear with these numbers(not really ).

But hes got a bigger name aboard for Transformers. Spielberg name should much bigger than Bruckheimer when they are marketing the name for Transformers.

I disagree. Over the last decade, Bruckheimer has become King with blockbuster after blockbuster on his resume. I think Bruckheimer's name on a movie adds more than Speilbergs at this point.

I'm not sure about that. Bruckheimer produced King Arthur too, which didn't do too well even though the trailer pounded on the fact that this is from the producer of POTC. It's always the whole package: cast, crew, trailer, marketing, controversy, buzz, blah, blah. If Bruckheimer or Spielberg is attached to Island, we could be sure the marketing wouldn't suck as much, but if everything had stayed the same except for adding their names, it wouldn't have helped much.

But one big difference is that right away, MAD's weekday numbers were in the $3 mil range. It didn't have much further to drop from that. Whereas Charlie's numbers were in th $6-8 mil range. I think that indicates a lot more mileage for it.

According to Box Office Guru, March of the Penguins got a $900,000 Friday gross.
That means it is heading for a $3 million weekend.

Good to see a higher number for March of the Penguins. Still got a chance at 4M.

Why so low? It made 3 times as much as last Friday, and now you are stating it will only make twice as much over the weekend? I don't think it will have as strong a multiplier but $4m seems infinitely more likely than $3m (one is possible the other isn't).

I think Wedding Crashers will win the weekend. Only 1 million behind Charlie and its going to have a pretty good Sat increase.

What is this "Take that BKB" Nonsense??? BATMAN did 1.1 Million and Saturday's always fall as you box office experts always say, right??? There is no take that about it.. The fact is is that this movie will BARELY if it's lucky limp it's way to 200 Million without WB taking up a collection or offering a special of buy 3 tickets get 1 FREE like FOX did for SITH to get it there so the media won't consider it underwhelming in their recap of the summer at the end of Labor Day.... Please, let's not start sucking each other's dick just yet over this especially once again when it comes to the cost and marketing of the movie$$$ and it will of barely broke even.. Hell, it couldn't of even beat the 1st BATMAN 89 at 250 Million..

Actually BKB, most films increase on Saturdays, after their opening weekend when it is not uncommon to see certain genres drop slightly.
