BTW, "A Sound of Thunder" trailer will be on screen with some prints of "Stealth"; but it won't be on screen with "The Dukes Of Hazzard". I fail to see the connection between The Island boming. Mary, I think that you're just trying too hard for this to bomb. What movie has done that awful on more then 1,000 screens this year? Not even Alone in the Dark did this bad
I think that "A Sound of Thunder" will only have little advertising , like "Marci X".

Even with little advertising, I doubt it'll open to less than $2 million. I'd be shocked.

I'm thinking it will open around $5-$6 million myself.

I don't see this movie can open more than $2.5 million
If "Pluto Nash" can't, why this movie can?

Pluto Nash had .00001% public appeal. If this movie is actually marketed in August, I'm sure it can open to atleast $5 million.

I think this will do really badly. It's been postponed forever and the trailers suck.

The trailer sucked. The poster sucks. and I pretty sure the movie will suck. No way it makes 5 m on first weekend.

I rmeember that about a year and a half ago DP07 has said that this will be the next Timeline and I laughed at him.
Now I am eating my words, since he was probably more than right. This one might actually struggle to reach Timeline's numbers. Too bad since the book had lots of potential. It'll top out at a bit over $10 million.

Pluto Nash had all sorts of awful things reported long before it came out. In addition, the trailer looked absolutely ghastly, the movie had some of the worst reviews of the year, and there was nothing for it to sell itself on. On the other hand, A Sound of Thunder's trailer makes it out to be an action/sci-fi thriller with creatures and a clearly laid out plot, which I think will definitely help. Lots of eye candy in the ad won't hurt either.

...and Franchise Pictures should quit producing movies. They made a lot of bad ones(box office and quality wise), with a couple of exceptions like 'Heist' and 'Spartan'.

Heh, guess you didn't know that they're bankrupt, thus A Sound of Thunder's delays and problems.

First review of this movie :
http://www.moviehole.net/news/5658.html
Quote: OK, what has been going on? I saw 'A Sound Of Thunder' the other day. Now, this movie captured my interest some time ago when Pierce Brosnan and Renny Harlin were involved. Then somewhere down the line the Franchise pictures people got hold of Ben Kingsley, Peter Hyams and Ed Burns. Good talent, but.. how can I put this? "I gottan idea, 'Back to The Future','Time Cop' and 'Jurassic Park'. Doncha think that'd make a cool movie if you mix those together?" Well, it was entertaining in a stumble home from the pub and pic up a DVD from your local Block Buster kinda way and I'm sure it'll make it's cash back. Hunting dinosaurs in a time travel scenario, with Ben Kinglsey heading this major corp and Ed Burns being his lead tour guide and rich business types buying into something 'new' and something going wrong somewhere down the line that subsequently begins to distort 'our' time.. sounds kinda cool. Would be pretty if Renny and perhaps Pierce were still on board and if the producers spent that little bit more on their CGI. It reminded me of Jean Luc Picard strolling in his holodeck thing on 'Next Gen'. Burns would be walking down a street and futuristic cars would pass by, in the same color, in the same line and it looked like he was on a tread mill in a gym and warming it up for Madonna for her next pop promo. Good idea. Must try harder.

This is a doomed project and yet another bomb for Ben Kingsley. He really knows how to pick those scripts, doesn't he with this film to be followed by Uwe Boll's 'Bloodrayne' after he starred in last summer's huge flop 'Thunderbirds.' The film itself has undergone many troubles with a flood destroying sets and the production company going bankrupt, and rightfully so since Franchise Pictures has made some of the worst films I've ever seen ('Battlefield Earth' and many more).

Oscar nom for House of Sand and Fog.
Bombs:
Suspect Zero
Thunderbirds
Sound of Thunder
Bloodrayne

Big surprise! This movie's TV commercials is airing on TV channels in US; it is much eariler than I expected.... (I thought that the TV commercials won't air until [two weeks before its release] )
BTW, exhibitors screnings was held. "Movieline International" report think that this movie:
Quote: Playable short run national release from Franchise Pictures
I still keep my old prediction:
1/2

"The Constant Gardener" also moves to Labor Day weekend (It will opens on wedensday, though)
Therefore, I will lower my "A Sound of Thunder" prediction
$800,000/ $1.6 million

Sir Ben Kingsley talks about this movie....
(Surprisly, EW are excited about it)
http://www.ew.com/ew/preview/movie/0,61 ... 0_,00.html
Quote: A Sound of Thunder
Sir Ben Kingsley can't tell you that much about his new sci-fi action movie A Sound of Thunder. It's been a while since he shot it. ''When did I do this film?'' he asks in jest. He filmed it in the summer of 2002. ''And how many movies have I done since then?'' A bunch? ''Nine!'' he bellows gaily. (After shooting Thunder, Kingsley went on to make, among others, House of Sand and Fog.) Why's the movie been so long delayed? ''I think they really wanted to work on the visual effects,'' he says. ''That's what [director] Peter Hyams said. He's a nice guy.''
Kingsley also likes Ray Bradbury, the science fiction titan who wrote the futuristic story Thunder is based on. You know that old adage about how a butterfly flapping its wings can change the course of history? Legend has it that its origins lie in Bradbury's 1952 tale. Sent by a huckster played by Kingsley, Edward Burns (Confidence) and a gang of pleasure seekers journey back in time to hunt dinosaurs but end up changing the future when they accidentally off a butterfly.
On the subject of his villainous character, Kingsley is eloquent  and bonkers. ''He's a grandiose showman,'' he reports. ''In the 19th century, he'd be selling bottles of elixir that would make you the strongest person. He presses the button, pours the champagne, greets people, and sells them the ride of a lifetime! He has grand gestures and rather limited intelligence.'' He interrupts himself with a honking, maniacal laugh. ''Ha-ha-ha! I hope you write that down! Grand gestures and a rather limited intelligence! There you go, Kingsley. Wow.'' If the movie is half as entertaining as talking to Kingsley is, it'll be huge.

If a movie like Suspect Zero can open better then that after being delayed, and even The Great Raid with almost no advertising opened to $2-$3 million there is no way this will open to only $800,000.
