This re-release is simply a dick measuring contest between studio executives and I have no doubt that Disney has fudged the Endgame numbers; they probably siphoned a few million from Toy Story, Aladdin and Captain Marvel to help it get closer to Avatar's total.

Probably true. It made up the difference big time with those 2k theatres for two weeks which I doubt were that full anyway.

Absolutely met my expectations. Far better than Avatar in my opinion (which is the biggest of all time because it was the first (and still only really) 3D movie that the 3D made the movie better). In terms of story telling, actions, and visuals. Give me Endgame. The 3D is the only reason I would even think about Avatar.

Nah...it makes sense that Disney wants to highlight having the biggest film of all time. Even if they lose a little money keeping it in theaters longer than it would otherwise. That advertising for BluRay sales and any MCU movie from here on out pays for itself. It is good business once they saw they were close.

Endgame (and the whole Infinity saga) is far better than Avatar. So will be glad when it takes the global crown.

So it's official -- Endgame will overtake Avatar after Sunday according to Feige.

Very well deserved. Wish it could have completed the sweep though. What could beat Force Awakens if not this? Not even close to a sweep. Avatar wins OS adjusted and unadjusted TFA win DOM overall unadjusted Avatar and Titanic win WW adjusted Happy for Feige though.

Yes! What a fitting way for the Infinity Saga to end. Well deserved.
I hope we see a one pager taken out in the trades showing the Navi handing over the top prize to the Avengers.

Re: AVENGERS: ENDGAME - The Road to $3b
I'm not surprised studio marketing departments trumpet unadjusted numbers, but the saddest spectacle is when box office wonks do it. Disregarding inflation makes dollar numbers meaningless. If we were to have another period of hyperinflation like Germany in the 1920's, which peaked at almost 30,000% in 1923, a single movie ticket would cost $27,000 - - so it wouldn't be surprising to see something like The Emoji Movie 3 taking the unadjusted crown.
