After AMITYVILLE opened to around $8.8M. And is going to do around $22M this weekend.
I rekon HOUSE OF WAX will do around $5M on it's first day and about $13M on it's weekend.

House of Wax has chance to break out like TCM. Since, it is the first slasher flick since TCM.

I doubt it VERY much.
This is a LOCK to open much less than AMITYVILLE.
Amityville is basically a carbon copy of TCM 2003, and it didn't breakout.

But, Amityville horror is not a teen slasher flick and TCM was.

I don't now.
This movie eerily resembles the slasher flicks of the late 90's.
This could work for it. This could also work against it. It just depends on the general consensus.
For me, that goes against it. I am not a fan of the mid-late 90's horror choices. But, I would still be willing to sit and watch the film just as I did in the late 90's. No matter how much I didn't like them.

I think this could be a big surprise. It actually looks really good and I think audiences are responding well to the early promotion.

I wouldn't consider The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) a teen-slasher movie, but whatever.
House of Wax should do well. It's got a nice release date, and it's a *real* R-rated teen slasher.

At first I really wasn't anticipating this, but now after all the promotion I'm really looking forward to it. It just looks like a fun little slasher film, and seeing Paris die will be the highlight of my day.

I just saw a 30 second TV spot, and wow. It was great, made the movie look awesome. And any movie where Paris Hilton dies is going to make my top five of the year.

To be honest i think that theres a real lack of slasher action in todays market; i mean, the world got cought up in the thriller revival with slowdrip horrors like The Ring and The Grudge which relied on creepy little girls stopping hearts.
With The Ring Two and even more dodgy thrillers from the start of the year; people must be getting tired of the genre.
House of Wax looks like a movie that dosen't take itself seriously, definately dosen't feature a creepy little japanese girl and certainly features all the teenage murder action you could want.
It should use this more on the marketing though "See Paris Hilton dieeeee!"

The first real review: http://www.horrorchannel.com/dread/modu ... ent&id=328.
3 1/2 out of 5. The most interesting thing from it....
"....It also has some of the most inventive kills I have seen in a slasher film in a long time. I honestly don’t know how they got some things passed the MPAA for an R rating but I'm glad they did...."

That line alone made this became my most anticipated ever.

Okay, is anyone else pumped after reading this line...?
"As expected Paris Hilton was just plain bad. She can not act and was just more of a distraction than an asset to the picture. However she did have one scene in the film that had the entire theater break out in applause...you can guess what that was."
Hurry up, May 6th. =D>
