If The Amityville Horror makes more total than The Ring Two, I'll leave the site for seven days.

Also, we'll change our ranks, BKB.

Mine will become "The Local Neighborhood Whore", "The Village Idiot", "AVP Fanatic", or "The Sad Cunt" (or anything you truly desire)
Yours will become "ROTK Fanatic" or "Record-Breaking Masturbator"

Don't count on it.. Horror fans, TRUE Horror fans and folks in general bitch about studios hacking R-Rated Horror movies and watering them down for PG-13 in an effort to make more on DVD in a Director's Cut R-Rated Edition

You're right, BKB. As a "true" horror fan, I hate studios who mangle R-rated films in order to secure a lower certificate. That doesn't mean I'm against PG-13 horror.

So you want a bet? Okay. I'll bet you that Ring Two outgrosses Amityville by at least $40 million domestically after twelve weeks of box office (respectively for each film). If I win? You leave. Simple as that. No trial periods, no re-registering other screen names, you simply leave this board... as well as every box office-related website on the internet. If I lose, you have my word I'll do the same thing. Amityville doesn't even have to outgross Ring Two for you to win.

And by leave, I mean the loser's IP address will be permanently banned by the forum's moderators. Deal?

Eh...

I'm not sure about the whole "leaving for ever" bet. I've never been a fan. All it does is hurt the forum by taking out an active member. I wouldn't want to lose either of you. How about a less permanent wager, Dark Shape?

I'm with makeshift on this one. While it certainly is a gutsy bet, it's basically sacrificing one of you from this site, and that's something I wouldn't want to see.

Yeah I agree. None of this "poster leaving the site permantely crap". It just shows too much animosity towards your fellow posters. I do like the wagers of becoming BKB's personal Rotten Tomatoes bitch for a week

BKB is way too funny for us to make him leave. BTW B, you'll probably want to see the AWESOME new trailer for Amityville Horror: http://movies.yahoo.com/movies/feature/ ... orror.html. Gotta admit, it looks aweseome, and I'm upping my prediction to 31/82. But I still don't think it'll beat The Ring Two, and I'll accept your bet.

That fantastic trailer will make me up my prediction too. It'll get $30 million, but not more than $40 million.

You should leave the site for 7 days anyway and bone up on your posting skills.. Either way you want to look at it, that New Trailer looks infintely better than any PG-13 Cheesy Horror crap like The RING II will be and I gladly accept your challenge.. I can't believe that none of you really believe a well done horror movie like this with a well known director like Michael Bay making this, an R-Rated Horror movie that's gonna bring in both adults and teens instead of just teens, can't make 50 Million in 3 Days.. :-k

Oh, Amityville may very well shock us all and pull in $50 million in three days.

But Ring Two's going to top $70 million.

You're right. The trailer looks better than The Ring 2, and I'll see it. I HOPE it's the Dawn of the Dead of '04, except, in this case, I would expect it being better than the original (which wasn't that good of a film).

However, how many R-Rated movies have topped $100m at the box-office? The thing is, Amityville looks good, but the name isn't even as known as Freddy, Jason, or the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (which is the benchmark right now). I don't think there's enough interest in this movie to allow it to make more than TCM03 and FVJ

It's not Michael Bay, though.

What is it with you people in saying that The Amityville Horror is unknown??? What the fuck?? :-k Ask any adult if they've ever heard of The Amityville Horror and they'll tell you they have some recollection or vague knowledge of it from the 70's.. Freddy and Jason is slasher Horror not psycholgical terror and horror like this movie will be and shouldn't even be breathed in the same sentence..

Most people who remember Amityville Horror aren't going to be interested in the teenage remake. Sure, it looks good, but is it REALLY something for mid-30 year olds to 40 year olds? Is it something they're going to rush out to see? NO.

I'm sorry but RING II is NOT going to make no fucking 70 Million in 3 days.. Now your just thinking foolishly because it has a PG-13 Rating which doesn't mean everyone, adults included will give a fuck about this rehash of a sequel, which is exactly what it looks like: A Rehash of The RING all over again.. I'm saying Amityville Horror will make 50 Million in 3 days because face it: It fucking looks 10X Better than what The RING II is bringing to the table in it's cheesy Family friendly PG-13 Fare and horror fans hate this shit, teens in general hate this PG-13 Shit and for the studio to boldly keep Amityville as an R-Rated Horror and just the overall look of it, spells a breakout R-Rated Horror Hit when it arrives on April 15th.. This movie will prove once and for all, that a well done R-Rated Horror with good name recognition can open up to great box office like a PG-13 would.. R-Rated Horror will finally make it's return thanks to Amityville....

Ring 2 is a lock for $100m. It will make more money than Amityville Horror. Everyone at my school and neighborhood want to see The Ring Two.

That's cause your all blind and don't know good quality horror when you see it.. Honestly, I just can't figure out WHY you all think The RING is REALLY that scary?? It's really not and the whole PG-13 Rating sucks donkey and you'll soon find this out and better appreciate that a horror movie like Amityville Horror is R-Rated and for a reason to... Moviegoers will flock in droves to see Amityville and quickly forget all about the RING II.. You can count on it.. =D>

BKB, every argument you've given us regarding this topic as been exactly the same.

Person A: The Ring Two, the sequel to the most popular horror movie of the decade, will beat The Amityville Horror.
BKB: WHY?! The Ring Two is not scary and people will realize that and go to The Amityville Horror. The Ring sucked and the sequel won't be scary. It's PG-13 so it sucks.

But what you fail to understand is that this is your opinion. That doesn't change the fact that it's the most popular horror movie of the decade, does it? Of course not. You even admitted that it was, but you didn't understand why. SO, if The Amityville Horror can somehow make $50 million in one weekend, why can't The Ring Two? If teenagers are THAT stupid to go see the stupid, unscary The Ring, you don't think they would do it again? In larger numbers since The Ring's fanbase grew more on DVD. You're opinion should NOT be involved in your argument. If my opinion was involved, I'd declare that The Ring Two will open to $120 million. That will never happen.

Now, you talk about the trailer, and here's my though. The Amityville Horror's trailer wipes out The Ring Two's trailer completely. The Amityville Horror looks like a real horror movie. Nice, and R-rated. It's gonna be sooooo good. It might even be better than The Ring Two. But, how big is the fanbase for The Ring Two? Let's think about this. Dawn of the Dead. That was well-known in the 70's and 80's. If you asked someone (an adult, mainly) this time last year (before Dawn of the Dead's release) if they had heard of Dawn of the Dead (the original), they would probably say yes. It was very popular back then. So explain to me why the remake (hardcore R-rated) didn't make $50 million opening wekend, and "only" $26 million? Explain why The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake (the original was huge back in the day) didn't make $50 million, but "only" made $28 million opening weekend? Because not all the old fans (the adults who saw the original) will ALL go see it. I think adults are a little too busy to go run out opening weekend to see a horror remake of one of the horror movies they liked back in the day.
