Trailers The Amityviller Horror (great reaction; looks awesome) The Ring Two (lots of talking; only three more weeks thank god) Unleashed (silence; looks good) Hostage (whispers; looks good) Sin City (whispers; can't wait) Fever Pitch (laughs; I'll wait till DVD, probably)
The movie got great reactions throughout the movie. Lots of laughs, lots of scares (surprisingly), lots of fun.
Movie After this movie became a PG-13, I set myself up for a dissapointment. Especially since I saw Boogeyman, I lost all faith in the PG-13 horror. I'm happy to say that Cursed revived my hope. Wes Craven truly is a genius when it comes to teen horror flicks. This movie was very entertaining. It had the right amount of everything. Huge laughs, cheesy love story, nice amount of werewolf time, and suspense. The cast did a fairly good job for a horror movie, so that was surprising. The one thing about this movie that made me mad was the PG-13, though. This movie would have been excellent if freakin' Dimesions would have left it an R. I would have loved to see the werewolfs rip apart people instead of just sounds, and then cut to the next scene. THAT pissed me off. Other than that, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, and it's definently a huge step up from Boogeyman. It's better than most of the horror movies I've seen so far in 2005, actually. It's no Scream, but it's a nice substitute. B
I find that incessantly humorous considering that Wes Craven actually disowned this movie.

Maybe Zingaling should says "Dimesions truly is a genius company when it comes to teen horror flicks".
According to Wes Craven, this movie was finished by Dimension. (Wes Craven said that he quitted during the post-production process, because Dimension wanted this movie to get PG-13)

Well, Wes Craven did start the project, and he did do most of it. If his final cut would have been released, it would have been awesome. Seriously, this was a good movie, though. It's just Dimesion that messed it up. They're not good at horror movies.

We sold out Mad Black for every show past 7 ( i would also like to note 85% of the customers were adults, thus higher ticket price) .....
7:05 - 485 people 7:40 - 512 people 9:40 - 500 people 10:15 - 511 people
Man of the house
7:20 - 90% full 9:45 - 80% full
Cursed
7:45 - 50% full 10:20 - 75% full
I never would have guessed in a million years this POS would have done this good (Mad woman that is) How large were the auditoriums showing Man of the House and Cursed?
300 each....the mad woman prints were interlocked to other theatres in order io seat everyone...had to cancel a few showings of other lesser movies

Horror movies are primarily what they release, though.
The only reason they turn in any income is because they're owned by Miramax, which is owned by Disney. It's a long chain.

Well I thought that it was a Craven movie as well because every T.V. spot I've watched in the last wk use Wes Craven as the main attraction, lol sounds like a desperate plea to get people to watch the film

Trailers:
SIN CITY
The only trailer that showed in front of it, but I'm glad I finally got to see this trailer. Man was it cool! And it has an awesome cast. I've come to love Alexis Bledel now thanks to Gilmore Girls, so it was awesome seeing "Rory" in the trailer. This is sure to be one of the best trailers of the year and the movie looks so cool. I want to see it in theaters for sure. Nobody in the audience said anything about it though.
Audience reaction:
I'm not lying when I say it was excellent. I didn't hear one bad thing on the way out, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. I'm glad there were so many people because it made it that much more fun. It had lots of screams and laughs. The audience was filled of mostly girls though. A few different times big groups of girls came in together. There were some guys though. Some that came with their girlfriends, and a couple of groups of guys that went together.
Anyway, solid comments on the way out. There were these three like 13-year-old girls on the way out saying it was scarier than BOOGEYMAN, THE GRUDGE, etc... Obviously it was scarier than THE GRUDGE, that movie sucked and was boring. But that's just me. This one had quite a few jump scenes so I'd say it was kind of scary. Not terrifying and I won't have nightmares, but I don't really get scared apart from jumping at some scenes so when it gets me to jump a lot or a decent amount of times I consider it scary.
I was surprised by the movie because of some of the things being said about it from reviews that were released early in the day. My expectations were kind of low. I figured it would at least be entertaining, but didn't expect much else. Well, it was a blast. I went with my mom because she loves horror movies too. My mom and I loved it. We had a great time and jumped a lot. Very entertaining, fun, and funny! The acting is kind of cheesy at times, the CGI sucks really bad, and there are definitely other flaws. The music screamed " SCREAM," " A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET," and porn. Yet it didn't even matter that it's not perfect or even close to it, because it was just so entertaining.
Thompson, no offense, but it's hard to take your rating seriously . It's a lot of fun, but hardly an amazing film. I'd probably put my enjoyment level as far as being highly entertained at a 9/10 level, but there are other things to consider. I don't think it deserves such a high rating. It's not amazing cinema. But a fun horror flick, make that very fun horror flick. It's no SCREAM or anything, and a lot of scenes seemed so recycled from movies like SCREAM that it's not even funny. The part where Christina turns around and her boyfriend is there (which actually happens more than once ) was more cheesy than anything. Just the music and all of the melodramatics seemed lame and so "been there - done that." Also, Joshua Jackson's character was really lame and cheesy, as was he. The character reeked of a rip-off of the character of Billy in SCREAM. Not exactly, but just the way he talked and the conversations they had.
Still, it was really fun and I want a sequel.
There's hardly any gore though. Nothing that matters much. It's pretty dry. And the werewolf did look like a big teddy bear at times too.
My rating: 8/10 (B+)
I'd like to see it again. It was really fun. And I would also like to see the SIN CITY trailer again on the big screen .

Well I saw Constantine again, and the audience was actually pretty packed in there at the 8:15 show, I'd guess it was 70% full. Usual bunch of trailers, Kingdom of Heaven, Sin City, Batman Begins, House of Wax, and The Interpreter, and I thought it was great, again. Stayed until the end, didn't entirely get that bit with Le Bouf there, but it was still cool.

I actually prefer DIARY OF A MAD CATWOMAN... It's about Halle Berry going to track down her agents. She's come all this way, and she is going to kill Phil.... I've been calling it that all week and I I'm so lame but I can't help but love it :p.
Oh, and I thought CATWOMAN was entertaining .

Well, so much for watching Closer this weekend. The last day it was playing at a theater within an hour of me was Thursday. I'll catch it on DVD, I guess.

You should have seen it sooner Zingy. [-X Haha, well like Libs said it's coming out in March (the 29th) so that's not a long wait for a rental. I know I'll be buying it.

This was a great horror flick. Considering the last two sucked: The Grudge (C) and Boogeyman (C). I came to this PG-13 flick thinking I would have to continue the trend of C's, but this film broke the curse. It was a fun film that I hope did better at the box office. Grade: A-

You are not going to believe what happened at my theater yesterday.
It was the slowest Friday in recent memory. The other shocking news was that yesterday, the biggest show we had for Diary of a Mad Black Woman was,, believe or not 90 people. How can a movie with over a $10,000 PTA do so bad at our theater? Today, it was the same case. In fact, the manager told me that the biggest market was Mississippi (California was one of the lowest grossing markets for that movie).
Cursed was the biggest performer yesterday, but it came in third today (the biggest show today was 230 people, not good). Hitch was the biggest performer at our theater, selling out the 8:15 show in our 250 seater, the 9:50 show in our 300 seater, and the 10:20 in our 400 seater. Constatine was third place yesterday, but it came in second today. It sold out the 8:30 show in our 150 seater. Man of the House ranked fourth today (it ranked 5th yesterday, behind Diary), it did only moderate.
In other news, the 7:25 Sideways sold out in a 110 seater, Million Dollar Baby was near sold out in it's 7:30 show, so was Aviators 8:30 show (both in 150 seaters). And Finding Neverland sold out in a 135 seater in it's 7:25 show.
Overall, we did significantly better business compared to yesterday, but it not good enough (this is the lowest Saturday this year). Hopefully next weekend will turn things around.
