Im thinking $160-$165m 4-day - unless Shrek is much bigger than we expect.

*waves* Ahoy there, Bootstrap! Glad to see ye here! I'm so excited about the STTT campaign.
I just read a review for Shrek 3 that gave it 2/4 stars; it sounds like it's not living up to its predecessors.
So, I guess AWE is going to be the one of the threequels to not disappoint. Everything I've seen and read tells me this movie is gonna be better than CotBP & DMC combined!!!
Love that the movie is tracking so well!

Yoh magnus, i tried predicting under 160 million 4-day and i can't see it....
Friday: 54 million
Saturday: 43.36 million -20%
Sunday: 35.55 million -18%
Monday: 28.8 -19%
3-day: 132.91 million
4-day: 161.71
IF x-men 3 can get 45 million, Pirates 3 will easily get near 55 million easily...
I also have near 20% drops for three days straight...
i am seeing ads, but as i am seeing with shrek 3, one good ad alone would reignite interest in a film. I see them going all nuts after Shrek is released. Shrek 3 has done the same after spiderman 3 got released and its working. Pirates will do the same...

Ive seen many Shrek tv ads, and some AWE ads. The Wal-Mart AWE one is pretty funny.
And my local Wal-Mart is pretty Pirate crazed right now. Not that is shows anything of the movie, othet than posters and books, but it obviously gets the word out.

the ads are full of good jokes and then spectacular action effects.
They are advertising the film as fun, not some great epic that will be the best movie ever, like they did with spiderman 3...

Why didnt you mention that he also says that Shrek 3 is "way behind" Spider-Man 3 also?
Not that it means much, though it could mean 125+ predicts may be too high given it's just 4 days away.

Films like Pirates and Spider-Man are going to sell way more advance tickets due to their hardcore fanbases.

I guess this is the right thread to post this... We have our first semi-review of PotC:AWE!
http://communities.canada.com/nationalp ... ehold.aspx
We should start seeing more soon... I guess they got the movie done earlier than they expected, so now they've already had one media screening, with more to come.

Another review; positive, but says it's a bit too long... Of course, the reviewer isn't a fan of the first two, so the fact that he still liked this one despite his problem with the length is a good thing...

LOL corpse hse is no way of predicting movies.
if the 8-12 pm thursday showings are counted to friday the saturday drop will exceed 30%
FINAL PREDICTIONS
THUR 8-12: 21 million
FRIDAY: 37 million
SATURDAY:41 million
SUNDAY:37
MON=26.7
See, if sneaks are not counted to Friday, the film shall rise on Saturday for sure.
BUT if sneaks are counted to Friday, itll drop around 50% n Saturday,
OPENING WEEKEND w/o sneaks=115
Opening weekend with sneaks=136 million
4 day w/o sneaks=142 million
4 day wioth sneaks=162 million
total-315 million, 3rd in the summer race. Yes, this shall drop like a rock.

First off, I really doubt that sneaks will count for that much if POTC2's midnights were just $9 Million. Secondly, if you do believe that it'll drop 50% on Sat. if sneaks are included, than your Sat. number should be $29 Million, not $41 Million. Thirdly, if it drops 9.8% on Sunday, it won't be dropping anywhere near 20% on Monday. Fourthly, your 4-day with sneaks should be $163 Million. Fifthly...... do I really need a fifthly?
