Re: The Mummy predictions
The latest trailer features some comical lines ("Kick her ass!", "That's my face!") that feel out of place. It also reveals that Cruise's character will face an identity crisis after the plane crash ("She did something to me." "It takes a monster to defeat a monster."). A little too late in my opinion. The modern world European settings may also reduce the intrigue of Egyptian mythology and distance the reboot from the 90's original.

Re: The Mummy predictions
I don't think WW will fall more than 55% and that should be enough to top this unless it surprises with a $40m+ OW.

THE MUMMY earned $6.6m in South Korea on opening day (a holiday) and set a new opening day record...

Re: The Mummy predictions
These movies will make good enough money in OS markets which is what I believe Universal is trying here. I think inclusion of Cruise helps increase the OS appeal. Even for Kong it was the case, it didn't light up the Domestic BO but it did enough in OS markets to warrant a sequel. I still think there is a shot for it to surprise at domestic BO OW-wise and have great legs like what Cruise movies do, there is a good set of audience that would like these cheap thrills in summer, something like San Andreas did in 2015.

Re: The Mummy predictions
This movie is so fucked. Reviews are shit and the marketing has failed to make this look like any kind of must see blockbuster. I would not be surprised by a sub $30M OW and a sub $70M total at this point.

Re: The Mummy predictions
The reviews for this were never going to be great. The first two Mummy movies also ended up rotten at RT. I don't think reviews will drastically change its OW.
I see it doing close to $40m OW like $38m-$40m OW and the legs will depend on WoM.

Re: The Mummy predictions
The Cruise faithful will get this to $100m.

Re: The Mummy predictions
Well I have changed my mind. I don't see it hitting 100mil. It's apparently doing great overseas but it will flop in North America. Bad trailers + bad reviews usually equals bad domestic numbers.

Re: The Mummy predictions
Could potentially be one of the worst performers of all-time opening in 4,000+ theaters.

It very well may open to half of its 16 & 18 year old predecessors.

Re: The Mummy predictions
I don't think this being domestic flop matters anyways although the potential was there and it might hopefully still see decent legs.
