Re: Into the Woods 150 million+ Club
the more i see trailers for this the more I think it'll do more than Les Mis. This is really riding on if the new trailer with actual singing is good but I'm in.

Re: Into the Woods 150 million+ Club
If the next trailer is good, I will raise this to a Into the Woods>Chicago club. Maybe even a Into the Woods> Grease club.

What does it need to beat to get that crown?

Re: Into the Woods Biggest Broadway Musical Adaptation Ever
Chicago's 170? And if it was to get biggest live-action musical ever it'd have to beat Grease's 188. I dunno about that but Disney has been on a roll.

Re: Into the Woods Biggest Broadway Musical Adaptation Ever
Grease was a movie first, right? So it doesn't count as a "Broadway Musical Adaptation"..
I don't think it can make $170m.

Re: Into the Woods Biggest Broadway Musical Adaptation Ever
No, Grease was a Broadway musical first. Yes, Grease is the film to beat. But I think with the Disney brand, the cast, the similar look to other live action fairy tales they made like Maleficent and Alice, and hopeful good WOM and Oscar buzz that it will finally fall.

Re: Into the Woods Biggest Broadway Musical Adaptation Ever
I don't think it will beat it. I see this making about the same numbers as Les Miserables, which would be great.

Re: Into the Woods Biggest Broadway Musical Adaptation Ever
I'm not saying it will definitely happen. That's why its a prediction. If this doesn't get the job done, a Wicked movie certainly will. That IMO would have 250+ million potential.

One person in each of those covers looks absolutely ridiculous. Depp looks like a fool.

Re: Into the Woods Biggest Broadway Musical Adaptation Ever
Depp looks great. I'm glad they went more theatrical and didn't try to make him look like an actual wolf. It would have been cheesier. I was hoping they would keep him out of the marketing though for a surprise. Oh well.

Re: Into the Woods Biggest Broadway Musical Adaptation Ever
I don't think he looks "bad", but ehh... I was hoping the reason they hadn't shown his face in the trailers yet was due to him having a more wolf-like appearance that wasn't complete. His attire looks like something from a general costume shop honestly.

Everything of what we've seen from this movie so far feels cheesy

Re: Into the Woods Biggest Broadway Musical Adaptation Ever
New trailer is kind of a mess. Absolutely no focus on anything. And the singing is not too exciting. Don't see this happening, doesn't look like it'll have any oscar help either. I think 100 million is possible, but I do think Annie still will have a great chance to overtake this (And this can do sub 80)
13-17 OW (26-33 4Day) 80-100 total

Re: Into the Woods Biggest Broadway Musical Adaptation Ever
No Oscar help? Most places are predicting it to be nominated for Picture. I also wouldn't count out Streep, Blunt or Cordon on being nominated and it will have tech nominations. Also the prescreenings have gotten great reviews.

If you can show sources for these "great reviews" that would be swell.

Re: Into the Woods Biggest Broadway Musical Adaptation Ever
I don't know, I feel like it could go either way. Les Mis definitely had bigger buzz going into the holiday season, but then again this looks like the movie to see on Christmas.
