Guys, I'm serious: It's fucking out of this world how much high schoolers are loving this, and the word is definitely spreading. Kill Bill it was about 1 out of four people that hated it, 1 out of 4 that LOVED it, and the other two liked it but not much more from what I saw, though Vol. 2 got worse WOM, I think because of it being considered talky and boring. But I still have yet to find ANYONE who didn't like Sin City at my school, and almost everyone was blown away by how great it was. The drops have some relevance I believe, but that's not all I'm saying guys, don't act like it is. Let me point you to Dawn of the Dead. That had good WOM didnt it but dropped 55% the next week
There is good WOM, and then there is great WOM. If MovieDude is correct, Sin City might have good legs for the genre (in other words a bit above average overall). I think there are just a few films that are greatly affected by WOM, the ones with extraordinarily good or bad WOM. The rest are basically in the middle with a slight difference based on WOM.
I don't think there is any reason yet to think the WOM is out of this world. Nobody will argue it isn't good, but I have not seen anything from the numbers or otherwise that suggests it's like LOTR or POTC. Well, other then what's appearently happening at MovieDude's school.

Also, I think for certain genres, the WOM won't start to show until the third weekend because there are simply too many factors to inflade the opening Friday's number. Once we get past the second Friday, the week-to-week drop from there on will give a better story on WOM.

Yes, very true. For say, The Bourne Supremacy (or even the original to an extent), the first drop was not reflective of WOM. Later, the great wom showed up in the BO.

People between 17-30 seem to really enjoy Sin City, while the older audience, really doesnt seem to enjoy it that much, which is the audience that tends not to rush to see a movie opening week, so I dont think Sin City will be having great holds or anything of that matter, might be wrong though, but 50% seems to be a given for the movie as of right now, but it could hold well the weeks after.

The absolutely best possible multiplier for Sin City would be the multiplier of Kill Bill Vol. 1, but I doubt it'll happen.

I'd have to agree with that. I know tons of people in the younger end of the audience that loved Sin City (including myself), while I know lots of people in the higher end that didn't like it. I went with my dad, and he couldn't wait to see it, but was dissapointed.
Regardless of it's great WOM, I doubt it can have a hold better than 50% this weekend.

I see Sin City falling around 55-58% next weekend, and then leveling out to around 45-50% for the following weekends.

I don't know, Saturday aside the drops are really damn good, and there's a very good reason for Saturday. Maybe I'm totally off, but I know just as many people planning in advance on seeing Sin City this weekend as there were last. I'm not saying it'll stay above 20 million or anything, but I do think it has the potential to have a surprisingly good hold. The fact that it's staying on all the multiple screens is definitely a good sign.

Rotten Tomatoes: Early Look at the Weekend:
SAHARA 60%. 5 Reviews.
"This is a big, lively romp, filmed in a lushly expansive epic style even though it's basically low-rent James Bond."
-- Rich Cline, SHADOWS ON THE WALL
"A blockbuster played by action figures and written by children."
-- Walter Chaw, FILM FREAK CENTRAL
"As Hollywood actioners go these days, this one’s quite tolerable in its guilty-pleasure way. Feel free to saddle up."
-- Peter Canavese, GROUCHO REVIEWS
"Think Of This As Dirk Pitt Light - With None Of The Patriotism, Conservative Social Commentary Nor American Heroism Typical In A Cussler Novel."
-- Fiore Mastracci, OUTTAKES WITH FIORE
FEVER PITCH 44% 9 reviews:
"Where’s Adam Sandler when you need him!?!"
-- JoBlo, JOBLO'S MOVIE EMPORIUM
"This is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen about what it means to be a diehard fan." -- Richard Roeper, EBERT & ROEPER
"Obsessed fans, you’ve won no converts. "
-- Victoria Alexander, FILMSINREVIEW.COM
"Fever Pitch is not just some comedy about two people meeting each other halfway, but something greater: a statement about the wheeling and dealing of a tradition."
-- Ed Gonzalez, SLANT MAGAZINE
WOW to that Ebert Review for FEVER PITCH.
That's SO going to be on the dvd cover. lol.

Actually, that's Roeper's review. Ebert normally tries to resist from throwing hyperpole like that, but as I mentioned, both gave two big thumbs up to Fever Pitch.

Actually, didn't Roeper put Shallow Hal on the ten best list? I think he likes it when the Farelly's go softer, but still manages to keep their brand fo humor.

But it isnt as bad as what you made it sound like when you said it was the son of Michael Eisner who directed it. Still doesnt change the fact Sahara is getting better ratings than Fever Pitch \:D/ . Why the big hate for the movie, anyhow?

it's gonna be really close between Sin City and Fever Pitch this weekend. Fever Pitch picked a perfect release date, just as the baseball season is starting.
Sin City - $15.7M -46%
Fever Pitch - $14.5M
I can't see Sahara getting #1

Well I'm sold on Sahara: My older brother saw it and said though it didn't make much sense, it's way more fun then it has any right to be, and though no Indiana Jones, was better then National Treasure easy.
And c'mon Libs, by that logic I'd point out that the only bad reviews for Sahara thusfar are from "Outtakes with Fiore" and "Film Freak Central".
Oh, and that Tuesday increase only confirms my theory. Let's not forget Kill Bill Vol. 2 had direct competition from Man on Fire which got terrific word of mouth and had the exact same audience. Kill Bill Vol. 1 even had Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I don't think Fever Pitch will do all that great. Look at Cruel Intentions... that was the Farrely Borthers' highest profile film and it only managed what? a $14 million opening?
I think Fever Pitch has a definite hook and a fairly original and charming-looking plot, but I don't think it will do anything over $15m tops!
I think Sin City will be sitting pretty at #1 again.
