I would expect the trailer in theaters with either The Last Mimzy on the 23rd or Meet the Robinsons on the 30th (or both).

You're reaching now. Kong was not a sequel to a $420m hit. Don't make yourself sound stupid. Wait, too late...

Earlier today I was trying to come up with a reply to Excel's idiotic post...I'm glad I ended up not posting anything and you came along. Bravo!

I'M reaching?????? episode 1 made 420 million. sometimes it takes time for the suckage factor to sink in.

But you just said that there wasn't a big enough gap between Pirates II and III to build "hype" or get people excited or whatever, so that must mean that there wasn't enough time for the suckage to sink in. 10 months is not enough time according to your example of Episode I and II, which had a three-year gap. Therefore, you're just proven yourself wrong.

nope. that would make sense but they were totally different points.
1. it takes more then 5 months or whatever the time between release n dvd release was, for the suckage factor to sink in.
2. episode 1 is a film that made 420 million+ from legs but the second went down down downnnn!

Is this five-month figure statistically proven? I guess The Matrix Revolutions didn't go "down, down, downnnn!" because of the second's word-of-mouth, but competition from Elf, right? (Reloaded's DVD released in October, Revolutions weeks later)

A movie won't make $400+ million if the general audience thinks it sucks. That's bullsh!t.
Also, it's funny that you bring up SW Ep I. I recently went back and watched the new trilogy. and Ep. I easily was my favorite. (I claimed Ep. III my favorite right after I saw it in theaters, but after watching it again, it really was a lame movie) The new trilogy really was lame.
Your bring up moot points, Excel.

Yeah, basically. Shrek 3 will get between $65 and $75 million. That should put Shrek and Sparrow's total at around $200 million, give or take $10 million.
I've said it before, and I'm not the only one who has. 2007 is going to sit all new sorts of benchmarks and records, especially in terms of frontloading. It seems the somewhat weak years of 2005 and 2006 have simply been leading up to this year.

Suckage factor doesn't factor in if you're the only one doing the sucking. Fap fap!

All the Shrek 2 haters? What in God's name are you talking about? Yeah, a lot of people on this site hate it probably, but general audiences? No. It's absolutely ridiculous to think that Shrek 2 was hated.

Nothing is ridiculous to him when he sets his mind to it. If he thinks there are pink men on the Moon, then there are pink men on the Moon.

Shrek 2 wasn't as well received as its predecessor, but hated? You've got to be joking. And again, the majority of people who hated Phantom Menace were the fanboys who went in with expectations that were impossible for the movie to reach.
AWE probably won't be the biggest movie of 2007, but it will do over $300 million.
