 Re: Holiday 2024 #'s
Fucking hell. Hard to believe Nosferatu wasn't picked as a replacement in the draft. I even picked Never Let Go ahead of it, which the vamp outgrossed in one single day, lol.
It's decisions like that to why I never deserved to win...and I didn't!

 Re: Holiday 2024 #'s
So many sold out showings yesterday for Nosferatu and A Complete Unknown will hopefully help with their holds.

Mufasa looking at $12M / $76M+ Sonic $11.5M / $99M+
Good on Sonic to even the gap.
Also boo on Universal for announcing Wicked is hitting digital platforms Dec. 31st. It could have made a run for $500M with the holidays.

Way too early for Wicked. It would be annoying if Moana beat it just because of that.

Im suprised Wicked is coming out so early on digital, with awards season it would run even longer.

neo_wolf wrote: Great # for nosferatu but the B- score is not good. The film is a bit much lol so that's actually not horrible. Could've been worse. This was given a mainstream marketing push but it's not a mainstream aesthetic and taste, it's more arthouse but flashier (tackily so at points I fear).

 Re: Holiday 2024 #'s
It's very annoying that Universal is putting Wicked on streaming already. What the fuck are they thinking? Sure, theatrical and streaming can coexist, but they're obviously leaving some money on the table. I'm so sick of these quick VOD releases, especially when they do it with a movie that's still making money.

I don't see how Nosferatu misses 100m. It just has to hold as well as Uncut Gems from here.

The Fire Inside will not be another Iron Claw lol. Looks likely to finish sub 10m domestic after its 64% plunge today.

Babygirl had a very solid hold. I hope it stays above 1 Million every day through January 1st.

They must have data that says anyone willing to buy a movie for $30 on itunes wasn't gonna see it in theaters anyways. Cause Wicked still has plenty of gas in the tank and will likely play well throughout a mid January.

I originally thought Babygirl could be this trashy erotic thriller that gets a social media fanbase like Saltburn, but it sounds like it's pretty tame.

Charlie just posted that Nosferatu did 7m today. Dropped slightly from yesterday but still very good. Should comfortably cross 100m.

He is also saying Sonic 3 - 12.5m and Mufasa - 12m. Flattish for Mufasa and another increase for Sonic 3.

 Re: Holiday 2024 #'s
Sonic and Mufasa might stay locked together until the holiday period ends. I think after then Mufasa will fall behind since there’s less casual moviegoers which swing Mufasa’s way

 Re: Holiday 2024 #'s
1 Sonic 3 $12,600,000 -50% $111,477,146 2 Mufasa $12,000,000 -10% $88,383,537 3 Nosferatu $7,250,000 $26,404,475 4 Wicked $6,830,000 +83% $411,610,535 5 Moana 2 $6,300,000 +85% $382,705,425
6 ACU $3,900,000 $15,474,043 7 Babygirl $1,414,935 $4,262,775 8 Gladiator II $1,355,000 +8% $160,270,901 9 Homestead $999,668 -66% $10,706,739 10 The Fire Inside $653,000 $2,952,705
11 Kraven the Hunter $525,000 -39% $20,212,877 12 LOTR $150,000 -58% $8,284,759
Considering Gladiator lost 42% of its theaters since Dec. 19th it's having a good rebound.
Wicked is $88M away from $500M. If it pulls off a $17M+ 3day, it will break the top 10 biggest 6th weekends of all time list past Frozen II, though two of those movies were in limited so it could even make it up to #6 which is incredible staying power.
Nosferatu is uber impressive. It's becoming a mini zeitgeist type film so can maybe take advantage of the empty Jan.

 Re: Holiday 2024 #'s
Not surprised by Wicked's staying power. Many people are seeing it multiple times, even I would like to see it again. The digital release probably won't affect it as much as when it gets to Peacock.

Pretty good for Sonic to regain #1 and love to see Nosferatu and A Complete Unknown make surprise runs.

Although it does, unfortunately, seem relatively tame, I’ve noticed a decent number of TikTok videos about it. One particular scene is garnering attention. Despite receiving a B- CinemaScore, many people appear to be thoroughly enjoying it, with some even expressing a desire to watch it again. Saltburn also received a B-, which shows that if enough people love a movie and it's generating buzz, it can overcome a mediocre CS. I’m hoping it can emulate the success of Saltburn or The Substance (even this only had a B CS, which is pretty impressive if you've seen it) and have staying power. The competition for screens in the upcoming weeks is rather weak.
