I am surprised a live action remake hasn’t been made. It could actually be good and lead to a Broadway adaptation.

Crazy increase indeed. Best I have seen for a PG-13 movie big opener in its OW. I think it can go higher than Charlie's 41m as well. if it beats friday its going to be among the few double digit plus previews opener in having its saturday higher than Friday including all its early shows/previews and it did like 3.1m on Wednesday according to Charlie.

And despite getting credit for it, Burton didn't actually direct the original. Could remedy that. Feels like the obvious thing to do next after this monster B2 opening.

110m estimate for Beetlejuice. Crazy opening. Sunday drop looks high, imagine it'll go up.

That has to be wrong, the numbers put Friday number twice for Saturday

They're estimating it to be flat.

That’s not flat, that’s almost a 50% increase over true Friday, if it is that’s the most impressive number yet.

With September to itself from here this could get really big.

Big win for Burton. He's now had $160M+ films in the 80s (Batman), 90s (Batman Returns), 00s (Apes and Chocolate Factory), 2010s (Alice) and now 2020s (Beetlejuice 2). These all adjust now to $350M+ so would be something to see Beetlejuice get there. Will probabably play till Halloween.

He's also had a #1 OW of all time in the 80s (89 Batman), 90s (92 Batman Returns) and #2 in the 00s (01 POTA), #3 for the year (10 - Alice) and now Beetlejuice as well for #3 OW of the year.

I feel like this is also a very good sign for Wicked mega breakout. Ariana's fanbase is going to make that a massive event.

Huge comeback for Tim Burton and for Winona too low key.

This is only the THIRD film this year to open over $100 million. That shows how huge this movie is. But it might not become the third highest grosser of the year (even ignoring Joker or Christmas releases) because of Despicable Me 4.

I hope they don't make another Beetlejuice, though. It will most likely fail. Hopefully Burton is sensible.

Jesus, Alien is taking an age to get over $100m.

Can someone explain to me why Trap lost over half its theatres but increased 72% in its sixth weekend to $1.34m?

It feels like a mistake in reporting. Its PTA went from $1,000 in week 5 to $4,000 in week 6! Was 6th September, like, National Shyamalan Saturday or something? It only appears to be Friday and Saturday that increased. Sunday was down 50% from last week.

Drive-in movie double shows with B2 most likely.

Are you just guessing or you know there were those types of engagements happening?

A quick check shows that my local drive is indeed doing a B2 double show with Trap, and they are only open on Friday and Saturday in September.

Usually this is the case when a movie gets a huge boost on the same weekend the studio is opening another big film.

Hopefully a nice hold this coming Friday and Saturday then. It's not yet at that 3.0 multiplier safe ground. Only 2.69 so far.

$9M Tuesday for Beetlejuice. Given the daily numbers have all cratered with schools back in session and summer season being over that's pretty great for it's long term run.

Reagan is also looking like it could pull off a 5X or better weekend multiplier at this point. It's Sat was down just 16% from the previous week. Dailies will stabilize too so could pull off a pretty good hold.

Reagan is the type of movie where if it had come out 10-15 years ago it would’ve made at least double what it’s doing right now
