Re: Despicable Me 4 Weekend
4th big blockbuster success in a row overindexing with Latino/Hispanic audiences (BB3, Inside Out, AQP, DM4)!
Some interesting stats:
-According to McKinsey, non-Latino white Americans see films 2.3X a year. Latinos 3.3X.
-In 2020, the Hispanic population’s median age was 30, while median age of the non-Hispanic population was 41.1, according to U.S. Census.
-I also just found this on Reddit: Top 15 Movies in Latin America in Admissions (Up to 2022)
Avengers Endgame: 71.4M
Spider-Man No Way Home: 60.8M*
Toy Story 4: 56.8M
Avengers Infinity War: 55.5M
The Lion King (2019): 53.6M
Titanic: 44.7M
Furious 7: 42.1M
Minions: 41.4M
Incredibles 2: 40.8M
The Avengers: 39.9M
Coco: 39.8M
Joker: 38.9M
Fate of the Furious: 37.8M
Avengers Age of Ultron: 37.4M
Despicable Me 3: 36.8M
Those figures seem like a good sign for Mufasa and Joker which were massive in the Latin American market. Brazil ($17.9M) and Mexico ($18.7M) were huge OW for TLK 2019 almost the same OW's as UK and France. Joker made $43M+ in Mexico and $34M+ in Brazil. Feels like Mufasa with African American AND Latino AND family AND Christmas crowd AND nostalgia will help it still do well.
