I dont think $250m was crazy. It could have done worse but two things saved it.l

1 summer weekdays
2 it delivers as a film

It's done great domestic but it's BOMBED internationally. They should've totally switched up the marketing for overseas, no country music, just disaster footage.

It's going to beat the original (I know, I know, unadjusted yadda) which is quite the feat. I didn't think it would get anywhere near. I bet Universal will Jurassic World this shit now

It's keeping screens at my regular cinema longer than most films. Based on that alone I feel it's doing fine.

I'm pissed at Universal for releasing this on demand so soon. It's a baffling decision. Fortunately, there should still be enough interest for people to see it on the big screen.

Although the holds are decent, I'm annoyed that this was released so close to Deadpool. It should have experienced even better holds and could have had an even longer run. I do believe it's getting strong repeat business; three of my coworkers have seen it twice already. That's the Glen Powell effect.

Glen Powell is rumored to be hosting the opening episode of the show (was previously approached for TGM before it was shifted due to Covid). He's having a huge breakout year so seems like his SNL episode would do very well and a good way to start their 50th season in terms of generating buzz and attracting audiences. He had a cameo on Sydney's episode.

Agree. It pisses me off too. $250m is great but $300m was on the table - if not more.

Opening the summer or even releasing 1 week earlier would have helped. So too an actual marketing campaign oversees which was non existent.

With this weekend's estimate of $9.8M, we're just $11.6M away now.

3 34-35% drops in a row after the initial drop of 57% against D&W.

Feel we could see Twisters end up at about $270Mish total.

I hope they stick with the heartland for the sequel and don't try to pander to overseas audience that don't care anyway (even though the movie teased a New York nado). Go all in and give it a bible flavored subtitle. More country music. More rodeos. More America. Really helped the movie stick out from the summer pack.

Indeed. I really hope they don't go down the Twisters in NY path.

Wed #:
Twisters $577,630 +9.4% $262,044,175

$20M away. Not likely with Beetlejuice coming in strong but definitely looking now like it could coast past $270M+.
