Can Puss pull in to #3 or #2 this weekend? Avatar will probably eek out at #2.
Not bad for Ant Man though would have loved even bigger. MCU can still pull in audiences but there's clearly an opening here for DC. Shazam, the Flash and Aquaman and Blue Beetle Ant Man / GOTG3 / Marvels could be interesting. GOTG3 looks to dominate but #2 comic book movie could be up in the air. Shazam early tracking looks really bad. I do not have all that much faith in blue beetle either to be honest.

Shazam can’t expect more than 45m, IMO. The first wasn’t a hugely well received film Blue Beetle will depend on a trailer.

Crazy that A2 held up that well with this competition and loss of PLF screens.

Over at BOT saying 34+m Saturday. Pretty decent and ensures $100m+ 3-day.

That’s a very solid hold. Guarantees 100m and should end up with 105-110m

 Re: Quantumania weekend thread
$104m for Ant-Man. I think it's a great result all things considered. Don't think legs will be bad for it to gross under $230m but who knows.
Creed, Scream, Shazam and John Wick all in a row will be fun to see. I even think the newer Dungeons and Dragons trailers look fun so hopefully it does ok.

 Re: Quantumania weekend thread
That Puss in Boots multiplier is insane.
Nearly $200m domestic gross off a $12.4m OW.

 Re: Quantumania weekend thread
Puss is at $423,358,100 globally. Just $32.2M away from $200M domestically as of Monday. Needs a 7.45 multiplier from this 3day weekend to get there. Not a lock yet but getting ever so closer. It's also just about $0.35M away from cracking the top 10 films of 2022 past Black Adam (yay). Puss should get past Sonic for #9 for the year and looks to be the only film in the $152M gap between Thor's $343M and Sonic 2's $190.9M.
Looks like it can get $25M domestic for $448.4M. If it keeps having crazy holds maybe a $205M domestic finish for $460.4M. Can overseas get it to $500M?
Congrats to Avatar for passing Titanic for #3 of all time global tally! An amazing hold this weekend and can leg it out to #7 all time when it passes $678,815,482 from Avengers: Infinity War.
Ant Man did well overall. 118M 4day weekend.
Annual box office has passed $1B. January was a lot better than expected which kept us going until Ant Man. Now we have lots of higher profile movies opening to keep the box office momentum going for the rest of the year. Jan box office +50% vs last year. Thank you Avatar, Puss and M3Gan!

 Re: Quantumania weekend thread
With it only doing 225m WW OW, looks like about 550-560m WW and less than the second film. Not great compared to the budget which was almost certainly 200m.

 Re: Quantumania weekend thread
The strange thing was The Eternals was the top streamed MCU movie on Disney+ last year so even with Ant Man box office being lower people will still end up watching it on Disney+ who missed it so Disney still wins just gets more $ from theatrical. It still boggles my mind it ended up at #1 despite box office of $164,870,234. Seems like they are inversely corelated so fewer Ant Man in theater = better Disney+ performance? Guess we'll see with the end of year rankings next year. https://variety.com/2023/digital/news/s ... 235503095/

 Re: Quantumania weekend thread
According to someone on BOT, Ant Man's Sunday looks like about $29-29.5M. That would give it $109.5M 3day and $125-127M 4day.
That would be a very good spike of about $5-6M (3day) and up to $9M (4day). Take it with a grain of salt since it's one source.

That kind of opening ensures $250m+ then. Cool even if I thought the movie kinda sucked.

According to Disney's financial filings, Quantumania is now profitable with $88,236! Took almost 2 years but good to know.

I don’t care what anyone says, THiS is the movie that sent a chain reaction for the entire genre, still haven’t even seen it

Its opening was great but it's like its quality made something click in people in terms of being over superhero movies leading to collapse legs and things never being the same after.

 Re: Quantumania weekend thread
Given the state of how everything went shortly afterwards, I do think Black Adam's box office $168M run in Oct. 2022 looks better with time. That would have been lucky to pull $80M without The Rock given how bad it was.
