I hope Chappie can get close to $30 mil OW, but low 20's seems about right.
Unfinished Business may do worse than HTTM2.

Is The Drop Box opening wide? I've only heard references to it on one of the local Christian rock stations.

Just showing a couple times this week starting tonight. Not sure how many theaters. Quite a few I'd imagine.

I'm not saying it won't open that low... but it should at least get to $20+ mil. Magic Mike wrote: Reviews for Chappie and Unfinished Business are, not surprisingly, pretty poor. If people listen to reviews I could actually see Chappie doing low teens.

Chappie currently has 20% on 1 fresh and 4 rotten reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The fresh one is the most recent. I think reviews coming in late could help Chappie if they are bad.
If they are great, which I don't see happening, it could hurt it though.

I'm starting to think Marigold Hotel can do well. Similar films have done well in wide release, like The Hundred-Foot Journey. I'm currently predicting a 2nd place debut.

What would be really cool is if Chappie disappointed and did low teens and Marigold Hotel managed to beat it for 1st.

Marigold Hotel is going to do great this weekend. The first is beloved with it's target audience. I wouldn't be surprised with a $15+ million opening honestly. At my theater we are showing it in the biggest theater.

Magic Mike wrote: What would be really cool is if Chappie disappointed and did low teens and Marigold Hotel managed to beat it for 1st. It's definitely possible IMO, although I believe beating UB is more likely. Chappie is getting shitty reviews so far though, and even if the last minute reviews are more positive it doesn't look like it will go any higher than mid 30's on RT, and that's being pretty generous. People will rush out to see it anyways, but who knows how frontloaded it will be when WOM gets out. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a Sucker Punch type situation all over again.

I don't see UB doing that well. A mid-tier performer.

MovieTickets.com Top 5 Ticket Sellers
1. Avengers - 30% 2. The Drop Box presented by Focus on the Family - 12% 3. Fifty Shades of Grey - 6% 4. The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel - 5% 5. Cinderella - 5%
Seems quite solid for The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel to be in the top 5 over the other new releases. Older-skewing movies don't usually sell advanced tickets as well from what I recall. I will not be totally shocked it this breaks out to 15 Million.

I could see sub-15. I mean, showings start tonight for it and it's not even on here? If Chappie does sub-15 Exotic Marigold could top the Box Office this weekend.

 Re: March 6-8 Predictions (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Yeah Chappie not showing up on movietickets is very discouraging. It might be getting hit hard by Avengers 2 pre-sales which appeals to the same audience, but that's still not a good excuse. Showings start tonight and Avengers doesn't come out for another two months. Even JA was in the top 5 by Tuesday, and that had to deal with 50 Shades domination.
