Good opening for Amytiville - I have a feeling it will drop less than 50% next weekend. The film is far superior to Ring 2 and The Grudge - shame it wont make as much.

It's going to make closer to $25M than your $20.5M prediction, so....

I actually said 21 million yesterday plus it may drop on saturday or just increase less than 3 percent too so it has a chance of making only 22 million

AMITYVILLE will do over 20 Million this weekend and "should" finish with over 60 Million. Maybe not though.
SAHARA and FEVER PITCH held nice.

Not necessarily. In a worst case scenario, I see it getting $20.3 million for the weekend, in the best case scenario around $23.7 million. So both is possible...

I've gotta say this is just sad when a piece of shit PG-13 horror movie with no fucking scares like the RING II had based on it's reviews still beats out a much superior Rated-R horror like Amityville Horror that was conceivably better in all ways.. I don't get that.. Maybe the rating really is a factor cause I refuse to believe this movie was that bad.. No fucking way.. Come on, can anyone honestly say the RING II was better?? Seriously for as fast as it fell off the map??

The Ring Two was a whole lot better. Well, I have not seen AH, but I no doubt wouldn't like it nearly as much.

The question is will The Amityville Horror fall today? The Ring Two and the well-received Sin City fell on their first Saturday. So will it?

Anyway, great holds for both Fever Pitch and Sahara. As expected both have legs. Sin City had a hard drop. I don't think it really should be a suprise since the drop last week was a bit of an anomoly. I think action films like this have a certainly level of frontloading that will catch up with them sooner or later.

Because people rushed out to watch them.
I don't see The Amityville Horror falling more than 5%.

True. Didn't Dawn of the Dead fall on its first Saturday too.

Sahara is going to have huge legs. This second weekend drop will be highest drop of its wide run.

I'm fairly certain that as an R rated horror film it will. TCM stayed about even, and Saw dropped 6.5% although both were well received. That was even with halloween coming up, which helps the legs for horror films. Without halloween I think it will drop 5%-10% today, and 55% next week.

Awesome opening for Amityville, around $23M this weekend.
Not far behind my $26M prediction.

A couple of weeks ago I was thinking something like 23 Million opening weekend for AMITYVILLE HORROR. Man do I wish I would have stayed with that! Instead I ended up raising my prediction to 29 Million. That was dumb.

Another derby messed up. Too high on Amityville, too low on Fever Pitch... I think I'm not a good predictor anymore. I should just quit again. Coming back after my last hiatus didn't help any.
PEACE, Mike

Its possible that it could increase today, much like Hide and Seek, but the fairest comparison would probably have to be Dawn of the Dead, which was a remake to a popular movie much like Amityville and that dropped off about 10%.

Dawn of the Dead is the perfect comparison.

Or it could pull a TCM 2003. AMITYVILLE is SO much more similar to this than it is to DOTD.
TCM 2003 increased a little.

True. But TCM might have fallen considering the dailies are just estimates.

TCM 2003 increased a little.
Maybe based on the producers, but it has a much more similar release date (TCM had Halloween weekend two) and more similar numbers. Personally, I think it'll do much closer to 20 million then 25, which is a dissapointment, but I'm still really happy with it. Can't wait to see it soon too.
